    Genelec 8000-400 reviews

8000-400 Design Floor Stand for 8000-Series is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Usable, Could Be Much Better I am making these stands work but I'm not satisfied with them, especially considering the price tag. First off, when they shipped, they came with damaged or defective hanging brackets. B & H did an OK job requesting replacements from the manufacturer (whom apparently never took action) so Genelec had to step in and ship the replacements. This whole process took almost two weeks until I finally received replacements in-hand. I would think a professional company would have had these shipped over night within a couple of days considering the price tag. The biggest problem though is they are too short. I have them on the lowest height adjustment and I still have to use the tilt adjustment to aim my 8351 speakers ear height at the listening position and I'm not a short person (but my chair is fairly low to be fair). But there is a HUGE amount of adjustment upward so I can only conclude that these are a failed attempt to design a stand that is usable for standing or sitting. So you would have to be very short to use them pointed horizontal while standing, or very tall to use them pointed horizontal while sitting! It would be much easier setting them up if they had a setting to lock them horizontal (if desired) to ensure the tweeters are at ear height. When tilting them it is not straight-forward to set the correct height. I do like the hanging feature though as the speakers fire in front of the stands, so the Genelecs do sound pure when mounted on these. Also they are a good solid build quality of anodized aluminum. The metal is resonant if you tap on it, but no perceivable resonaces can be detected from them in the room while clapping hands, etc. Conclusion: these are overpriced PA stands.
