Shure MX690 Overview

The Shure MX690 Microflex is a tabletop transmitter equipped with a cardioid condenser boundary mic compatible with SLX4 and SLX4L receivers. The cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture in front of the mic and rejects much of the off-axis ambient noise, great for picking up one speaker or allowing two panelists sitting next to each other to share a single mic.

Quick to set up and tear down, the MX690 offers a smart solution for conference and meeting spaces where wired mics are impractical and users demand flexibility with high performance. The unit's low profile is ideal for applications such as video-conferencing where minimum visibility is required.

The transmitter provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries, with a fixed 30mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 100'. Run up to 12 mics per frequency band with a maximum of 42 mics in the room at the same time.

User-Friendly Features for Conferences and Meetings

  • Configurable mute button can be configured for momentary or push-on/push-off operation, with a bicolor LED indicating the mute status
  • The unit quickly syncs with a wireless receiver via infrared at the touch of a button
  • Commshield technology protects the mic against RF interference noise from smartphones
  • Logic mode allows for remote control of muting function
  • Battery-level indicator

question

Does this include the Shure SLX 4 base station or is it just the wireless microphone?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Shure MX690 Wireless Boundary Mic does not include a receiver. The Shure SLX 4 receiver will need to be purchased separately, and match the transmitters frequency in order to communicate.

question

whats the better choice MX690 or the 5 inch gooseneck with base?
Asked by: Anonymous
They really have 2 different purposes. The MX690 is a boundry mic, which means it is designed to pickup large groups of speakers. The 5 gooseneck is typically for only 1 or 2 speakers as it will block out noise from around it. I use my MX690s for a speakerphone setup to capture audio from a large conference table. They work great for this.

What rechargeable batteries do you recommend for Shure MX690? Is there any Shure battery that fits the mics?
Asked by: Eduardo H.
We never use rechargeable batteries... they tend to be too unreliable
