How many Lumen does the Arri 650 put out? I most often use the Arri 650 but I'm switching to LED's and want to find out which LED's put out a similar amout of lumen.
Asked by: Mickey
This Mole Richardson https://bhpho.to/2MY1xbC measures on a light meter very similarly to a 650w tungsten fresnel. Overall the ratio from LED to tungsten is about 5:1 when comparing similar fixtures. Fresnel to fresnel or softbox to softbox. 100w LED is about 500w tungsten.

What gels can I clip on to the barn doors in order to play with the colors? The gels I already own started warping, so I took them off the barn doors.
Asked by: Jesse
You can use Lee or Rosco gels but don't keep the gels too close to the light.

question

I want to use this with a 220v bulb. What do I need as far as power conversion to make this work from an American 120V Edison power supply? Will a standard power converter work or do I need something different?
Asked by: Jove K.
The ARRI 650 Watt Plus Tungsten Fresnel (120-240VAC) is a dual-voltage light fixture that is compatible for international usage. As such, all you would need is the correct bulb, the ARRI CP89 Lamp (650W/220V), B&H # ARLF650X, as well as a plug adapter to convert the US 3-prong plug to the plug used in your country. You did not indicate in which country the light fixture is to be used, so I cannot make a recommendation for a plug adapter, but they should be relatively easy to find.

question

Do you recommend a particular size or size limitation for a softbox over the arri 650? I'd also like to get boom arm setup for the light. I'm currently using the lightweight Arri AS-1 Tripod. Any basic considerations I should consider, and perhaps a recommendation? Thank You.
Asked by: Bobby A.
Hi Bobby. Sorry for the late reply! I have never used a softbx for an Arri before. Normally just use scims that are supplied with the light and then clamping on various gels or defuser. (normally with wooden clothes pegs as they don't burn.melt) Theses run pretty hot so not sure which - in any - soft boxes can be used. I use a heavy duty Matthews C-Stand with my Arri's but any stand will work
