The Dr. DAC prime from ESI/Ego-Sys is a two-channel, USB digital to analog converter (DAC) and audio interface that allows you to listen to digital music with pristine audio quality, on the road or in the home. The unit features 3 modes of audio input and output - analog, digital S/PDIF and USB.
The converter supports up to 24-bit/192kHz resolution while the USB interface functions at a full 24-bit/96kHz rate for bit-perfect audio transfer. The S/PDIF inputs will accept both coaxial and optical S/PDIF (optical via included mini-plug to TOSLink adapters), and the incoming signal can be optionally up-sampled to 192kHz.
The analog output signal is generated by a DAC with 123dB dynamic range, featuring a full differential output, and the line output volume can be varied or fixed to send out the maximum dynamic range. The built-in headphone amplifier provides 1/8" and 1/4" connectors.
The Dr. DAC prime also provides line, as well as optical and coaxial S/PDIF inputs, allowing you to record your own signals with excellent audio quality. The analog to digital converter delivers a dynamic range of 110dB. The USB device functions plug and play under Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7, as well as Mac OS X, without the need to install any specialized driver software.
