Tiffen UV Protector Filter Overview

The Tiffen 52mm UV Protector Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Absorbs some ultraviolet light and reduces bluish cast of daylight.
Clear filter provides no additional coloration or contrast, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

question

Are Tiffen filters multi-coated?
Asked by: Anonymous
While some Tiffen filters are multi-coated, the Tiffen 77mm UV Protector Filter listed above is not. The Tiffen 77mm UV Haze 86 Digital HT Filter, B&H # TIH86DHT77, would be the only 77mm UV filter from Tiffen which would be multi-coated.

Is this compatible for Fujifilm XE3 55mm and 35mm f/2 lens? If not, which one would be?
Asked by: rose
I don’t know but I would assume that a 77mm will fit all 77mm. If I were you I would go on line to B&H or call them.

question

Just purchased the B+W 77mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter B&H # BWKCPMC77 and also have this Tiffen UV protector filter. Does the B+W Polarizer simply replaces this filter and acts as a UV Protector -or- can you mount on top of the Tiffen filter. Any benefits of doing this. It seems that if one were to do this there would be issues with.......?
Asked by: Linley
The Tiffen serves as your protection for all general purposes. As much as the Kaesemann filter costs, I personally would put the Tiffen on the outside to protect it, or just leave the Tiffen off when using the polarizer for the optimal results. I would not recommend leaving the Circular Polarizer on for all occasions as it causes 2-stops of light loss (which is not usefull for most indoor/low light situations) and is mostly only useful in outdoor situations.
