Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR Overview

Three aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion elements are used to greatly reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations in order to produce a high degree of sharpness and clarity. Standard zoom is designed for FX-format F-mount cameras, however can also be used with DX models where it provides a 36-180mm equivalent focal length range.
Constant f/4 maximum aperture offers consistent performance throughout the zoom range.
Three aspherical elements are used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp imagery with accurate rendering.
Two extra-low dispersion elements greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater clarity and color accuracy.
Both a Nano Crystal Coat and a Super Integrated Coating have been applied to individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.
Silent Wave Motor affords quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. An internal focusing design is also used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.
VR II (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake to benefit shooting handheld in difficult lighting conditions.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field techniques.

I am looking at upgrading to a versatile full frame lens. I bought my d750 last year and I do a mix of portrait, still life, & travel photography. Eventually my goal is to expand my lenses and have a few primaries because I prefer those in my cropped lenses, but for now due to what I can afford I really just want a one and done lens that I can pretty much use for everything. I’m having trouble though deciding between the 24-85mm or 24-120. Does anyone know which would be more beneficial or know about either more in-depth to help me decide? The price difference in the used department is only about $100 which isn’t that big of a deal to me but I want to make sure I am getting the best one for what I need right now.

I was in your shoes about a year and half ago trying to settle on a good all around lens and after a lot of research and many discussions in photography groups, I settled on the Nikkor 24-120 and am really happy with it. What I like about it is that it is ideal for travel when I only want to bring one lens and have no idea what I'm going to be shooting and it is compact and lightweight. I think it makes nice portraits and is adequate for landscape, but I'm not much of a landscape photographer, so it might be me. I find it to be a solidly built lens. I use it on my D750 and D850. I really don't think you can go wrong with this lens. If I were you I would spend a few extra bucks and get brand new lens. Good luck and happy shooting!

Will this work on Z6 with converter?

Will this work on Z6 with converter?
Asked by: Judy
I don't know. With the 24-120mm. lens that I have, I have discovered that sandwiching a circular polarizer over a UV filter on the front objective when coupled to my Nikon 810 produces severe vignetting. I should have known intuitively not to use that combination. (I had gotten used to using the UV for protection of the front objective.) Other than that, my 24-120 produces sharp images with the 810.

question

Is this a US lens or Japan?
Asked by: Anonymous
The lens is manufactured in Thailand. It is a Nikon USA refurbished lens, It does make a difference if it is imported by Nikon USA. Any lens not imported by Nikon USA will not be repaired by Nikon USA period. You will need to find a repair facility that will repair and have parts for a "grey market" lens. Some parts are not sold by Nikon USA to independent repair facilities. Good luck to you if your grey market aka direct imported lens needs repair,

question

Why does it come in white box instead of regular packaging?
Asked by: Gurudutt C.
The product comes supplied in a plain white box, instead of the manufacturer's packaging. It includes all the manufacturer's accessories. It also comes with the standard Nikon warranty.
