Optical Vibration Reduction Image Stabilization
The Nikon VR Image Stabilization system incorporated into the NIKKOR Lens compensates for camera shake resulting in sharper images - even when shooting under unsteady conditions such as on a boat, and provides the ability to shoot at shutter speeds as much as three stops slower without blurring the image for sharper natural light images. In addition, the VR system provides faster and clearer framing on the cameras monitor as well as smoother action when using the movie mode.

Sports Continuous Scene Mode
With the fast Sports Continuous scene mode, the P80 can shoot up to 13 fps, for up to 30 frames (with the resolution set to 3MP or lower), making the camera an excellent choice for sports or action photography so you'll capture all of the action, or you can use it to analyze your golf swing.
1:1 Format Image Capture
Shoot pictures with a more traditional framing and composition thanks to the 1:1 (square) format option. The camera also provides 2:3 format for easier printing and 16:9 format for viewing on wide format video displays.
Nikon In-Camera Innovations
The Coolpix P80 incorporates Nikon In-Camera innovations including In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, Face Priority AF, and D-Lighting. The Nikon In-Camera Red-Eye Fix system automatically corrects for most instances of the red-eye effect that is commonly caused by the use of a built-in flash on a compact camera. The Face-Priority AF system automatically detects and achieves sharp focus on people's faces wherever they are in the frame for crisp, sharp portraits. The Nikon D-Lighting feature can rescue underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight by automatically brightening the dark areas in the picture, while maintaining the brighter areas of the image.
High Quality TV Movies with Sound

Nikon 26114B reviews

Coolpix P80 Digital Camera is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 72.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coolpix P80 Needed Addition at Nikon I was searching for something to compare with the Canon G-9. I wanted something to take on a cruise, with which my wife, a D-70 user, would be comfortable. The construction quality is not up to the G-9 but ver adequate. The 18-1 optical zoom and image stabilazation are excellent. The wider angle than the G-9 alone sells me on this choice.Sharpness is excellent. Noise is excellent at the lower ISO's. The controls are Nikon all the way. The display is slightly smaller than the G-9 but is bright and sharp. The lack of hot shoe and raw capability probably keep it out of the pro backup class, but I bought it for travel- I am not carrying my D-200 and lenses on a 10-day Panama Canal cruise. I will be ording another P80 prior to the trip for my wife. This one is mine!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally found the 'do-all' camera Nikon hit a winner with this one! The P-80 is the first camera I believe will be the one to beat for all round photography without having to carry a backpack full of lenses, extensions, etc. The light weight is an added bonus and the size is perfect, even for my large hands. I'm really impressed with the 18x range and the camera's low-light abilities. One other plus I have to mention is I like the 'flash only when I want it' set up. The one and only downside for me is the slight lag in the shutter although it's still better than most point & shoots. This one drawback is the only reason I didn't rate the P-80 a 5. I can live with it as everything else with this camera is a big plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Camera I have a D60, which is fabulous, but I worry about taking it around as an everyday camera. The P80 is my everyday camera - I can throw it into my purse or wear it around my neck and have it handy at all times. It's small, but it takes a great picture (especially on the fine image setting), even from a distance. And even though it's a point and shoot, it has the feel of an SLR. It's not going to take the kind of photos the D60 takes, and the lag time isn't ideal, but overall it's a great camera for those times that you're not going to want to take your SLR along.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picture Perfect I purchased the P80 just before a big family trip to Cancun, Mexico and am very happy with the results. We came home with 300+ photos on the memory card. The pictures are beautiful, the focus and color are very true on all of the pictures. Even low light pictures look great, we took a series of family photos just after sunset. I took the pictures without the flash and they look like daytime. I also took action shots at night and had no problems with lighting or focus. I shopped around a lot before buying a camera to replace my Canon A80, I'm glad I found the Nikon P80.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All-in-one Camera and I love it This is a great camera if you want to have all features in one camera, like size, zoom, mode features, video, you want it for professional photos but also for travel. otherwise you could probably find other cameras for whatever you prefer I went with this camera because I made a list of what I want and this was the only camera that fit all my needs. That is, Good video quality, Long zoom, affordable, small but not compact, variety of features, night vision for plays and shows etc., sports continuous mode, and i only wanted a reliable brand. If you prefer long zoom and you also want good quality photos and videos i don't think you would find anything else as far as my research. last but not least I can't stop taking pictures in dark places with night portrait mode, it comes out so bright and great quality photos. DO NOT JUDGE THIS CAMERA BEFORE GOING THROUGH THE MANUAL TWICE AND ACTUALY USING THE CAMERA FOR AT LEAST A MONTH, On my first day of using it I was a little disappointed but as soon as I got to know how to use it I ralized how great this camera and its features really are.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interesting Features! READ THE MANUAL!!! I've had this camera about two weeks and so far I really enjoy it. I've only had point and shoots ... so this is as advanced as I've been to this point. I was always disappointed with zooms on standard point and shoot, so this camera solves that. It has some pretty advanced features on it and already I've used the panarama assist to make some really cool images for my company's website. I do have to say ... unless you are a professional ... be prepared to spend sometime with the manaul. I was worried when I first go it (shaky blurry images ...) However, after a few hours with the manual I'm taking awesome shots. Overall I have no doubt I will be happy with this camera ... at least for the next couple years. So far I haven't found any issues that aren't solved by either investigating the manual ... or tinkering with the settings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little camera but... Great day time camera. Colors are good including skin tones. Amazing zoom is sharp at wide to normal but softens at the longer end of zoom. Controls are good. The d-lighting feature does an excellent job of recovering shadow deatil from an under exposed image. What I feel is a short coming of this great little camera is a problem with low light focusing, even with the focus assist feature on. It can be difficult to get sharp pictures of people indoors. The camera excessively hunts to focus under normal room light at night time and frequently fails to lock focus. The focusing performance gets even worse with even a modest zoom. As a result i have tried manual focus but it is tricky at best. I exchanged my first purchase for a another, (same model) and there did not seem to be any improvement in focusing performance. Over all i like the camera but the poor focusing performance in room light - low light conditions is disappointing. I called Nikon about the issue and they told me I was the first to report this problem and did not offer any meaningful work around solution or advice other than to say there might be a firmware upgrade in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SWEET I got this camera for christmas from my parents and I love it. This camera is very usefull for taking pictures of my two dogs or just an outside landscape. I would recomend this to a friend because it is very light and compact. The resolution of the pictures is great. I love this camera a lot. The battery time on it lasts a long time. I took over two hundred pictures on one battery. I had a original point and shoot camera from Kodak and i had a lot of big problems with it. I will never go back to a regular point and shoot again. I describe myself as casual photograhper and I do photography as a hobby. I love this camera a lot and definitly reccomend it to a friend.
