Nikon 26125B overview

  • 1Description

The Nikon Coolpix S610 Digital Camera blends elegant design and quality construction with high performance and intuitive controls and features. The durable metal body houses a 10 megapixel image sensor that is partnered with a 4x wide-angle Nikkor zoom lens with an equivalent focal length of 28-112mm in 35mm terms. Additionally, the lens incorporates Nikon's Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization, to overcome camera shake and ensure sharp photos at shutter speeds up to three times slower than would normally be possible, and also includes a High ISO of ISO 3200 for capturing images in low-light situations.

The camera features the EXPEED Processor that provides for high-speed operation, and powers Nikon's exclusive In-Camera Innovations that include In-Camera Red-Eye Fix that automatically detects and corrects red eye, D-Lighting which compensates for excessive back-light or insufficient flash in images, and Nikon's enhanced Face-Priority AF that can automatically finds and focuses on up to 12 people's faces within one frame. In addition the Coolpix S610 is equipped with Active Child Mode, which automatically tracks the movement of subjects, such as children and pets, to ensure that they are in crisp, clear focus, Smile Mode to automatically take photos when a subject smiles, and Nikon's Scene Auto Selector Mode, which automatically selects the right scene mode for the image you are shooting for trouble-free photography.

The intuitive controls and large and vivid 3.0" LCD display make it easy to compose photographs and allow users quickly search through images. The display has a wide-viewing angle of 170 degrees and an anti-reflection coating, so it is easily visible, even under bright ambient light conditions. In addition, the S610 comes bundled with the COOLPIX Software Suite for editing, organizing and sharing images. The camera is also compatible with SDHC cards, and utilizes a slim EN-EL12 rechargeable Li-ion battery, which provides plenty of power for a full day of shooting.

10.0 Megapixel Resolution

4x Wide-Angle Optical Zoom-Nikkor Lens
The high quality Zoom Nikkor Lens provides a 4x optical zoom (28mm-112mm equivalent) while the Macro capability lets you get as close as 5.9" to your subject. The wide-angle capability of the lens makes the camera well suited to architectural or real estate photography and also makes it easier to capture broad vistas or large groups. The lens also has a maximum aperture of f/2.7 for improved low light shooting.
Optical VR (Vibration Reduction) Image Stabilization
The lens of the Coolpix S610 incorporates Nikon's optical lens shift VR (Vibration Reduction) system, which compensates for camera movements to produce sharper, steadier images. And because the VR system remains active whenever the camera is on, images also appear more stable on the LCD monitor, making it much easier to judge the right moment to take the shot.
Slim, Stylish, Stainless Steel Body
With a slim, sophisticated Design this ultra-compact digital camera easily slips right into your shirt pocket or purse, and its good looks are complemented by incredible durability due to the Stainless Steel casing.
Light Sensitivity up to ISO 3200

Nikon In-Camera Innovations
The Red-Eye Fix system automatically corrects for most instances of the red-eye effect that is commonly caused by the use of a built-in flash on a compact camera. The D-Lighting feature can rescue underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight by automatically brightening the dark areas in the picture, while maintaining the brighter areas of the image. The Face-Priority AF system automatically detects and achieves sharp focus on people's faces wherever they are in the frame for crisp, sharp portraits, and the Face Zoom-in feature zooms right in on the subject's face during playback for images shot with Face-priority AF.
16 Scene Modes
The Coolpix S610 incorporates 16 scene modes that cover some of the more common difficult shooting situations to maximize the image quality. The scene modes automatically adjust focus, exposure, white balance and other settings to make getting a good exposure easy.
Active Child Mode & Smile Mode

Since Children cannever seem to sit still long enough to take a good picture of them, the Active Child mode has the camera's autofocus system will automatically track your subject - even if they, temporarily, move out of the frame. The Smile Mode will detect up to 3 faces, focus, then automatically releases the shutter only when the subject smiles.
Scene Auto Selector
The Scene Auto Selector automatically recognizes the scene in your picture and selects the appropriate scene mode for yoy, the uses the chosen scene mode to automatically adjust the camera setting for the best possible results.
Movie and Voice Recording

An onscreen icon with a cursor that tracks Rotary Multi Selector scrolling makes it easy to select various features.

    Nikon 26125B reviews

Coolpix S610 Digital Camera (Midnight Black) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really good buy I bought this camera to use on a family vacation. I wanted something that would be small, compact, fast and would work in a range of lighting situations. This camera was perfect for my needs. It takes beautiful shots and is very easy to use. It has multiple settings so you will be able to find one for whatever need you may have. The only draw back is having to remove the battery from the camera for recharging, and that's not really a big deal. I would recommend buying a spare battery if you plan to really use this camera for long periods of time. I didn't and wish I had. That will be in my next purchase from B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressive I bought this camera for my mother for Christmas as her first digital camera. Knowing that something complicated would be tough for her being almost 60 years old; I worked hands on with all the compact cameras in the store. Being a semi-professional DSLR user myself I had a good idea of what qualities I was looking for. This camera impressed me the most of the lot with it's quick shutterspeed and not too complicated interface.I also enjoyed the variety of settings for all kinds of conditions, including a panoramic assist function. Although Mom still needs some practice she has enjoyed the camera thus far, and I have ordered one as my own personal point and shoot to carry.@

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best ultra compact I've owned Like the wide (28mm) lens and the VR works great at slow shutter speeds. Large LCD screen and intuitive controls, easy to operate most features without the manual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent!! I bought this camera during a vacation to Disneyland last month. WOW! This little camera packs a serious punch. The quality of images produced by this camera are amazing, including the low-light shots. Despite that, however, I've run into a bit of fuzziness in some of my photos. I'm still a novice photographer so I'm not sure if there's a setting to adjust this or what but it's probably nothing a little Photoshop magic can't fix. :) The Active Child mode does a fantastic job of freezing a moving object and generating a crisp, clear image. I'm still getting used to the different modes and stuff but this camera is the best I've ever owned. It's perfect for traveling, family photos, etc. I'd highly recommend this product. You'll love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way Coolpix Easy to use and understand. Has a great wide lens so you can take pics of yourself when traveling and no one else is around to do it. Small for easy fit in a bag or purse. Being that it's 10 MB, I always have a camera with me that can take great hi-res pictures. No more trying to decide in certain situations if I need to take the bigger SLR.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth Every Penny! This was purchased for my wife who is not very familiar with digital cameras. She opened the box, charged the battery, read the quick start brochure and proceeded to take it on a humanatarian trip to Nicaragua. The pictures she brought back were amazing! Simply said very easy to use and understand its features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Refurbished is an AWESOME way to go! I bought this camera for my 8 year old son's birthday. He absolutely LOVES it. I am a Part time photographer and have never been disappointed by the Nikon product line. I was weary to purchase a refurbished product, but I won't be again. The camera is in perfect condition. Since it was refurbished I was able to get him a better quality product than I normally would have been. I've even considered borrowing it for my own needs occasionally. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Coolpix S610 Superior macros. Outstanding image quality. Very easy to use menus. Great specifications. Generous functions. Have compared to other brands with supposedly better specs but the Nikon is still superior. Battery life is OK but recommend carrying a spare. Old Coolpix took AA rechargeable NiMh batteries that lasted longer. Not uncommon for compact cameras equipped with small rechargeable batteries.
