Nikon 26164B overview

  • 1Description

The Nikon Coolpix L20 Digital Camera provides simple operation with a compact and stylish camera body. The 10.0 megapixel resolution combined with the high quality 3x Nikkor-Zoom lens produces beautiful photographs while its intuitive operation ensures error-free command over the cameras features & functions. The large 3.0-inch LCD Display offer a bright image that is a pleasure to view, even outdoors. And the body itself assures a solid grip with a balance of flowing surfaces contrasted by sharp edge lines. Furthermore, extended light sensitivity as high as ISO 1600 prevents blurred shots in lower light, or when capturing fast-moving subjects. There is even an Easy Auto mode where users can turn on the camera and shoot without worrying about any settings - or users can access 14 different scene modes and three movie modes to get the best results to match the moment.

Powered by Nikon's exclusive EXPEED image processing engine, the Coolpix L20 features a selection of three innovative functions that provide the ability to actually improve the quality of images within the camera. Face-priority AF automatically finds then focuses on people's faces for crisp, clear results time after time. In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically compensates to help eradicate traces of the annoying red-eye effect that can sometimes be encountered during flash photography. And D-Lighting can be applied to improve underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight. D-Lighting automatically creates a copy of the image with detail added where necessary, but with well-exposed areas left completely untouched. These innovative functions are combined in the cameras Smart Portrait System, along with the smile modes and blink warning feature to assure that your portrait and group shot always look great.

10.0 Megapixel Resolution
The Coolpix L20 can produce images with 10.0 megapixel resolution to deliver pictures with true-to-life color and pleasing details. What's more, with this high resolution, images can be significantly enlarged and still look absolutely stunning
High Quality 3.6x Optical Zoom-Nikkor Lens
The Zoom Nikkor glass lens of the Coolpix L20 produces incredibly sharp, clear images; while the Macro capability of the lens lets you focus as close as 2 inches. In addition, there is a 4x digital zoom providing a combined zoom capability of over 14x
High Sensitivity (ISO 1600)
Keep shooting, even in lower light with the high ISO capability of the Coolpix L20 - the cameras sensitivity is completely automatic and has a range from ISO 64 all the way to an incredible ISO 1600
Easy Auto Mode
The Easy Auto mode makes photography even easier by having the camera take complete control of settings, so you simply turn on the camera and shoot without worrying about them
Smart Portrait System
The Smart portrait system combines the functions of several exclusive Nikon technologies including Nikon's innovative smile mode that releases the camera shutter at the moment that your subject smiles, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix which automatically detects and corrects for red eye, D-Lighting which compensates for excessive backlight or insufficient flash in images, and Enhanced Face Priority AF which automatically finds and focuses on up to 12 people's faces within one frame - all to ensure that portraits and group shots will always look their best
3.0" LCD Display
The high resolution 3.0-inch LCD makes it easy to compose shots and play them back anywhere and the high contrast display ensures that the display is easily viewable - even in direct sunlight
Compatible with AA-size Batteries
The Coolpix L20 is compatible with AA-size (LR6) batteries, which are widely available around the world. As a result, users can shoot as they like without having to worry about recharging or running out of power

    Nikon 26164B reviews

Coolpix L20 Digital Camera (Deep Red) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from best bargain online I purchase for a mission that operates in a 3rd world slum. We need a variety of small cameras that are good enough to document house building projects and visiting teams and yet inexpensive enough that if we lose or smash them it doesn't bankrupt the mission. I buy all of our cameras used from B&H and have never been disappointed. This camera is perfect. It's color makes it easy to find in strange conditions (dark, raining, dirt everywhere) it is easy to clean the exterior and the photos are completely presentable for our uses. We got it for very inexpensively and I consider that almost a donation to the mission.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pocket Camera I bought this camera to carry when I don't want to be burdened with an SLR. Also for use when traveling light or backpacking. I picked this particular model mainly because it uses standard AA batteries & I don't have to worry about charging a specialty battery. Especially useful for camping & backpacking because my GPS unit & flashlights also use AAs, so I only have to carry one type of replacement battery for everything. No, it's not a full featured $2k+ digital SLR, but it covers 90% of the needs for a snapshot camera. The video is not the greatest, especially in low light; but, hey, at least it does video, too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flashy Looks, Flashy Pics I purchased it for a younger family member. This is their first camera. Out of the box, it worked great. She was taking pictures within a few minutes of opening her gift. It comes with batteries. All you need is a SD memory card and it is ready to go. The interface seems straight forward. She caught on quickly. It comes with software to allow her to manage the pictures on her computer. All of this loaded fine. It is a good little point and shoot. If you don't own a point and shoot, then please realize they have a little lag between when you push the shutter and when it actually takes the picture. It also does not have a viewfinder. Enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little compact camera I'm a semi-pro whose usual camera is a Nikon D90 with Canon Powershot G11 as backup or street camera. I bought the little Coolpix to have something that fits in my bag and thereby ensures that I'm never without a camera. It's surprisingly sophisticated for something this small and inexpensive. The time lag often complained about with this sort of camera isn't anywhere near as long as with most other similar cameras I've used; in fact, it's virtually nonexistent. Easy to use, so it's even a good camera if you want to give or recommend a first digital camera for someone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best all around camera--for the money We carry this now instead of our Nikon DSLR 40x. It is so easy to just slip into a purse or pocket. I have owned Nikons since the mid-1960s and have never been more satisfied. I was able to shoot pictures of whales and dolphins in mid-air at Sea World. I printed these images 13 X 19 and they are sharp as a tack with absolutely no pixelation. I shoot all images at the highest possible quality, then reduce the size, if necessary, on the computer. I also use a 16G memory card, so image capacity is not a problem. Not only would I recommend it to others, I'm buying one for each of our two adult children.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent camera buy! A great little pocket carry camera, not on a par with a full DSLR model but nice to have in reach. Good battery life with fresh Alk or full charge MiMH. Picture quality is good in outdoor lighting and fair to poor on low light with the low ISO. I found you can get better shots by using Auto mode and setting to full color level and a careful use of flash settings.Lag is a big problem w/ the L20 but you can work with it. Burst mode is fair but usable. Optical Zoom is fair to good but the NIKKOR Glass Lens is excellent over-all. Bright 3.0-inch High-Resolution LCD is easy to view in full light.Face-Priority AF mode is very good. This is not a Pro-grade camera but still a very good model for a first or travel camera to pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just as described. We bought this camera for my daughter for her 13th bday. It's great for the price. Takes quality pictures, flash is great, small and compact. Takes regular batteries (2 AA) which is great, but it eats them! Definitely invest in rechargables. But again, this is not a professional camera.Image stabilization a little slower compared to my professional camera. Zoom is next to nothing, but most cameras in this price range are the same. She loves it though, and that's all that matters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Camera--for the money This camera is all I carry anymore. I don't even bother to take along my Nikon D40x SLR because the images on the L20 are so sharp. I installed a 16G memory card so I can shoot all my images at the maximum size and resolution. I regularly print 12 X 19 images and they are sharp as a tack. I could go on and on, but I don't need to. I couldn't be happier. My experience with Nikon goes back to my first Nikkorex in the mid-1960s and I don't think I've ever had a better camera value.
