    Nikon 26190B reviews

Nikon CoolPix S8000 Digital Camera (Silver) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expectations can create disappointment Being a Nikon I did have great expectations and no disappointments surfaced with this camera. I routinely use a Nikon D300 and bought the S8000 as a small portable travel camera for my briefcase. Just came back from Hoover Dam and took duplicate photo's with both cameras. Conditions were harsh (lightings conditions) and varied (dark tunnels with overhead lights and reflections galore). It was difficult when looking at the photo's to tell which camera took which picture. Clear sharp images with great color balance. Controls are easy to use and zoom quality was very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recomended for Travelers :) It's great for landscape pictures and great for a quick shot. I'm going on a cruise to italy and greece, so i will be doing a lot of walking while taking pictures. It turns on and off quickly, and its ready to shoot. The flash that pops out of the camera while on flash mode is a bit irritating if you are used to holding it with both hands, but its not so bad. Picture quality is great, so are short videos that come out in HD. You can edit the pictures on the camera itslef, like skin softening, lighting, vividness exct. Its a smart camera, it can detect when people are smiling or blinking and will automatically retake the picture if someone blinks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improvement over the 630 It's ready to go in about 2 seconds; unit is a little wider & heavier than the 630, but not uncomfortable. Have shot landscape, children, etc. and the focus identifies quickly, reaady to take before the shot is lost. Colors are true; 10x zoom is a treat. You can make some changes to the shooting menu, but remember its not a DSLR. It's a stick in your pocket & take with, that give very good pics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Point & Shoot Having been seriously involved in photography for about 30 years, I have seen many innovations come and go. In preparing to do some out of country touring, I did not want to haul my D3 along. I can safely say I was blown away regarding the capabilities of this fine little camera. Great build and image quality are just the start. There is something for everybody from beginners to seasoned pros.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome quality; Many features It has a pre-set scene mode for almost every application. The camera is very user friendly. I've only had it a week, but most features are intuitive. Only drawback is that the battery must be in the camera to charge. No external battery charger included.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Choice Nice little camera, easy to carry and snap. Great pictures. Two drawbacks which I found are, (1.) the flash light is on the top right of the camera. which pops up in auto mode/flash mode. While taking pictures we all hold this type of point and shoot cameras using our both hands, which blocks poping up the flash light for this model. Hope you all got what I mean. (2.) Some times the camera doesn't focus image to the right focal length. Eventhough we press the button half way to focus the image we get blurred pictures.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nikon S8000 I was expecting more, given the hype and the wait. The lag is better than most pocket cameras i have, but not great. i am spoiled by nikon's dslrs, though. maybe there is not one to come close. The flash, i feel, is poor design. with it popping up when called upon, it presents a problem if you happen to have your hand where it sits, which is where you would normally be holding it. if your fingers are on the left side and a flash is needed, it simply does not exert enough pressure to give you the hint it needs to come up. It will pop up after you release your hold, then becoming vulnerable to damage. also, you can easily press or inadvertently twirl the rotary dial when you did not mean to change a setting. the idea is clever, but as a low light camera, it is possible to change settings you did not mean to change. might be good if there was a button lock on the rotary. photo quality is good. phot

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good pocket camara with video I have a D300s for my normal photography. I bought this for back up, and for convenient photos. S8000 has the great zoom, and image stabilization. The size is very small to fit the shirt pocket. it is quiet when you take a photo or video. So people around would not notice you. The video of 720p taking is also very easy. 29 mins video is good enough for most situations. The image is acceptable but not as good as a DSLR, the start up time is about 1 second, which is also acceptable. The fast photo of 11fps and 3fps is only for small size images, which is not very attractive for me. I would rather use 720p video for motion taking. The LCD display is very good, so you can clearly see if you take a bad photo with the amplify zoom. I use a 16G SDHC card and works fine. It shows 2000+ for 14M* photo sand 3000 for 14M photos. Good enough for several days travel.
