Canon 2685B007AA overview

  • 1Description

Canon's FS-11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder is the top-of-the-line offering in their standard definition flash memory family. This lightweight camera fits right in the palm of your hand and is perfect for traveling or capturing video on-the-fly in the midst of your daily routine. Record to the internal 16GB flash memory for up to 10 hours and 25 minutes. Utilizing the removable SD/SDHC cards (sold separately) keeps things simple by allowing you to upload your footage to your PC for emailing, printing and sharing on sites like YouTube in no time at all.

This camera also features Canon's exclusive 48x Advanced Zoom which extends the normal 37x optical zoom for an even wider range with virtually no loss of image quality. The DIGIC DVII image processor improves color reproduction in skin tones and dark or bright situations for images that pop. Electronic image stabilization, a 1/6" CCD image sensor and a 2.7" Hi-Res widescreen LCD screen round out the great features of the FS-11.

Flash Memory Recording
Record directly to the 16GB internal flash memory for up to 10 hours and 25 minutes in LP mode. There's no need to bring bulky tapes or easily scratched DVDs when you film with an internal memory. You can also record to SD/SDHC flash cards with the FS-11 for quick and easy uploading to your PC for emailing, printing or sharing on sites like YouTube. And because the camera only uses flash memory there are no moving parts, which means faster start up for capturing and replaying your footage in-camera.
DIGIC DVII Image Processor
DIGIC DVII, unlike its predecessor DIGIC DV, is specially designed for HD image capture. Your video and still images will look great thanks to improved color reproduction for skin tones and light and dark situations. This processor also reduces image noise with two types of noise reduction for clean, crisp video and stills. There's more, the DIGIC DVII also provides for faster shooting of still images - up to 5 (3.1Mp) images per second.
48x Advanced Zoom
Canon's 48x Advanced Zoom extends the power of the 37x optical zoom for the longest Zoom available from the company. What's even better is that there is no loss of image quality, leaving you with clear, accurate video and stills in every shot.
2.7" Hi-Res Widescreen LCD Display
The 2.7" Hi-Res widescreen LCD display lets you compose your shots in the same aspect that your widescreen TV will play your footage back in. This LCD takes the guess work out of recording.
Microphone Input
Virtually extinct in the consumer camcorder market the microphone input makes a comeback in the FS-11 for recording audio with an external mic for superb clarity.
Electronic Image Stabilization
Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) keeps your video steady and safe from the age-old problem of hand shake.
1/6" CCD Image Sensor
The 1/6" CCD image sensor captures beautiful video and stills with stunning clarity.

    Canon 2685B007AA reviews

FS-11 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from great camcorder/ lousy software this camcorder is great and friendly and easy to use. It has many features that allows you to use it as a camera or as a camcorder. I like the product and its light weight. Its easy to carry and to pack. However, when trying to import my video clips into a PC I got a cold shower. Windows moviemaker does not recognized it. The Pixela image mixer free disk that comes with the FS11 is of absolutely no use. The level of the contents is below the free downloads available. Their support is even worse, don't expect any clever input there. I still have to find a program that accepts the FS11 to import my video clips. Any suggestions are welcom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shoot the Moon I don't have much experience with video cameras and this is my first one. I love the zoom. I was able to record a full moon last week, craters and all when zoomed in full and on a tripod. Though this has IS I still feel like it is not the same steadiness as my canon dsl IS 300mm lens. It doesn't grab and keep the subject as still as a camera IS lens does. But you can't beat the zoom on this thing. We are going to Maui on Friday, so I will try it out more. The sound quality seems geat when picking up my 14month old's little voice. But since I can't compare all aspects of the camera to another one that's why I gave it a four star.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Little Camera First of all I was surprised at how small this camera really is. This can be both good and bad. It's good because you can just about put it in your pocket and take it anywhere. Bad because it can be a tad difficult to hold steady, especially when trying to take still photos (my advice, use a camera made for taking still photos to take still photos). Overall, it a good little camera, nice zoom, picture and sound, recording time, view finder, and features. Beware of shooting in low light however as the picture can become very grainy. I would recommend this little guy for anyone who wants a nice small camera and is not ready for HD yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Camcorder I've really enjoyed the size, quality and convenience of this camcorder. I took it on our family trip to Disney, and was able to record hours of video on a full battery. By far, the good out ways the bad. BUT...I HATE having to use Canon's software to transfer my videos to my computer. The software is not user-friendly and you will have to purchase a 3rd party software to edit your video. And even though I've converted my videos to another format, I'm still having issues uploading to YouTube, MySpace, and Facebook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun and easy to run This is my first camcorder and I absolutely love it! After borrowing a few older tape camcorders, I researched and decided I wanted one with flash memory and an internal hard drive as well, just in case I forgot a memory card. This camera was very easy to operate, and since it is small, easy to pack/carry through the Grand Canyon on my vacation. The quality of video is excellent and making video's when we got home was easy to do. The only drawback is that the buttons are small, so if you have larger hands/fingers, it is a little difficult to maneuver. Other than that, this is a great camcorder for anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Family Camcorder I've used this camcorder to film baseball games, indoor birthday parties, classroom activities and other family events. In all cases, the camera did a great job. It transfers the file to a Mac with ease. Light weight... easy to use... a great family camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for my Event Video! Yeah, you won't look professional, yeah you'll have to get a mono or tripod, yeah it's small in my big hands.... but dang! This little camera has some great features and on the fly effect options! I use it for doing video at horse shows where I'm allowed in the center of the arena. I have this little guy on a monopod and no one even takes notice of me. Which is nice, because then I don't become a distraction. I record directly to SD cards and my assistant burns a DVD while I record my next video! Nice and compact with professional quality video, and my favorite feature: I can change the shutter speed! Thank you Canon for another awesome product. I'm a fan for life!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ...and product I need to make a softball skills video for my daughter to submit to college coaches. I needed a camera that has decent picture quality and image stabilier. I read that the picture quality was not so great in low light, but that is not an issue because most of my video will be shot outside during daytime hours. This camera is great for the price I paid. I will use Photoshop Premier to edit. B&H Photo was terrific. The price I paid for the camera, tripod, memory card, carrying case was less than what I would have for just the camera at another store. I liked that their web site was laid out with the accessories needed for the product. Ordering was easy and I had my product the next day.
