    Etymotic Research mc3 reviews

mc3 Noise-Isolating In-Ear Stereo Headphones with Mic (Black) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does nothing for noise reduction Maybe it was the pair i received but these did absolutely nothing to isolate or reduce noise. i had the earbuds in and no music playing (as the company says) and had people talking in background. They say you should barely hear any voices. Not a chance. Voices were crisp and clean. it was like i didnt have the earbuds in at all. Yes, they were deep in my ear. They are light and i did not find them uncomfortable but again, for me, there was no reduction in noise, which is a big reason i bought them. As for audio quality, i also did not find them to be worth the money. They are ok but i have a pair of scosche that i like equally as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extremely good sound isolation these headphones provide excellent isolation from outside sound. So well that it is necessary to use the external mic with awareness app if you intend to walk or ride in traffic. The bass response is not as good as the Aavantree Sacool bluetooth headphones I own but they are more comfortable and the wide selection of your tips is a great benefit. Previously I used musicians air plugs by Etymotic which influenced my decision to try these headphones. I would recommend these to anyone looking for decent quality headphones with good sound isolation. However it is very important to find that your tips that seal perfectly to your ears

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Headphones for Work Under $$ I use these headphones every day at work and on my commute. They are perfect for blocking extra noise from subway cars and coworkers. The sound is crystal clear, and not nearly so bass-heavy by default. The combination of these features means I can listen to anything from Haydn quartets to house music without blowing my ears out. Some might find that the ear bud size options aren't for them. They also sit far in your ears (more so than most buds). I don't mind this, since it helps block noise without active sound canceling (battery-eating) tech. HIGHLY recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from For the audiophile in you If you're looking for a balanced frequency response without the sonic coloring of the low end or mid range of most earbuds, these are the buds for you. It may sound boring, but there's something about hearing a song as faithfully as possible. The mc3 do that surprisingly well at it's price range. The 3 buttons are convenient placed and function how they're supposed to. THe only thing is that these buds go in deep. You really gotta put them in ears to get the true isolation and sound (mainly the low end). I highly recommend to someone looking for great sounding ear buds on a budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent noise isolation I recently purchased these in-ear headphones for my iPod touch. After reading bad reviews on the Apple in-ear headphones on other websites, I decided to try these instead. I wasn't sure what to except from this brand. Needless to say I was surprised at how great the noise isolation is with these headphones. The sound is clear and there isn't any added bass with this set. The Apple earbuds with the remote and mic just can't stand up to these! They are pitiful compared to this set! I would highly recommend these to anyone who wants to actually hear their music free from background noise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Isolation and Neutral Sound This is my second pair of Etymotics. I previously had the er-6i and the cord broke from the stress of wrapping it around my ipod. These have a much better cord that seems more durable. The isolation is excellent (as to be expected with this brand) and the sound is crisp, clear, and most important to me... neutral. These don't artificially boost the bass like some brands, so you actually hear the sound as it was meant to be played. The only thing I miss with these is the clip on the cord which secures the cord to your shirt. Without it, the cord bounces around a lot and you get quite a bit of cord noise up through the headphones. Also, it should be noted that the controls work perfect on the ipod (as adverised). On my Android phone however, the skip-back (3 presses of the button) did not work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great quality but weird button placement I really like these headphones but I find the button placement very strange. The control buttons are located very close to the right earphone and it takes some time to get used to feeling your way around the buttons (as you cannot see them). I have previously used Ultimate Ears iPhone headsets and found the button placement better (but the earphones larger and heavier and therefore they fell out of my ears more often).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good isolating earbuds Great for use where you really want total isolation from outside sound. I use them when cutting the grass, doing woodworking, and the like. They have an app that uses the mic to feed in outside sound, but I found it really drains the battery. In order to get the isolation, they do seat deep into your ear canal, so if you are sensitive to pressure in the ear, these may not be for you. Sound quality is great.
