Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G Overview
Wide-angle 35mm lens is designed for FX-format F-mount cameras, however can also be used with DX models where it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.
Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords significant control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.
One aspherical element is used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp imagery with accurate rendering.
A Nano Crystal Coat has been applied to individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.
Silent Wave Motor affords quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. A Rear Focusing System is also used, where only the rear lens group is moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

How is this lens on on a Z6?
How is this lens on on a Z6?
This AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G Lens attached to the Z6 with the FTZ II Lens Adapter would have the same functionality as it would on an F mount body.

question
What about a Nikon D5000? Would it work well with this camera??
The short answer is yes. More detail? Nikon DSLR cameras come in two basic formats, DX and FX. DX and FX refer to the size of the imaging sensor. The DX sensor is smaller than the FX (full frame) sensor. By the same token, Nikon lenses are intended to be compatible with the different camera sensor sizes, i.e., DX and Non-DX(sometime called FX). DX will appear in the name of the lens. Non-DX(or FX) will not. Your Nikon D5000 is a DX format DSLR camera, which is capable of using both DX and Non-DX lenses. The AF-S Nikkor 35mm1:1.4G is a Non-DX lens, thus compatible with your D5000 DX camera. Actually FX cameras such as Nikon D800 can use a DX lens but the DX crop mode ls automatically selected by the camera causing the use of only the center portion of the FX sensor, causing a reduction in the normally high pixel count of your image. Sometimes that might be helpful to reduce your file size.So There You Go. Have fun with the AF-S Nikkor 35 mm 1:1.4G. With the low f-stop capability you'll get great images in low light even without a flash.
