One of the most appealing aspects of small mirrorless cameras like the Sony NEX-3 and NEX-5 is the availability of a wide range of interchangeable lenses, including non-Sony lenses. This Novoflex Adapter for Leica M Lens to Sony NEX Camera makes it possible to mount a Leica M lens to your NEX-3 or NEX-5 camera with a precision mechanical adapter. Such an adapter does not transfer functions from the camera to the lens, such as auto focus, but automatic exposure metering (stop-down metering/aperture priority) is possible. The lens will focus to infinity using this adapter.

Adapter for Leica M Lens to Sony NEX Camera is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pricey but solid After using a cheap adapter for a few months to adapt my Zeiss m-mount lenses to my NEX, the fit on the adapter became loose. Unfortunately there wasn't a better solution until the Novoflex unit came back in stock. This is a very solid device. The lens assembles with a satisfying click. There is no movement between any part of the adapter. My only issue is the price. It does seem a bit high for such a simple part. However, the solid build of the adapter makes me feel much better putting my much more expensive lenses on my camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Yes it feels odd to pay this much for basically a metal ring with air inside. So perhaps like many others, at first I bought a cheaper adapter (not even the cheapest one), and it was awful: Very hard to get on and off, on both sides. I was afraid I might break something or the thing may get stuck on the camera or lens. So I returned it and begrudgingly bought this one. And I'm glad I did. It fits perfectly on both sides, goes on butter smooth yet sits tight with no wiggle or tolerances. So yes it is expensive, but given the alternatives it's worth it. Your lenses and camera are way more expensive and you don't want to risk them with a cheap imitation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Light leak I use this with a Zeiss biogon 21 mm on a Sony a 7S. When shooting with a 3.0 neutral density filter at shutter speeds greater than 5 seconds there is a massive light leak over the locking mechanism and at the 10 o'clock position. Novoflex responded to my report by saying that newer adapters have not been reported to have this problem. The representative I spoke with explained that three other people had complained of a light leak. He said it appeared to be only with Zeiss lenses. I was told to send my adapter in and it would be replaced with a newer model. Hopefull that works. In the meantime I have a hair scrunchie over the adapter and lens connection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely first class product Purchased for use with a Leica TriElmar 28-35-50 lens, a discontinued item going for around $4000 on the used market. Body was a Sony A7. Construction is first rate. All surfaces are clean and free of any machining indications. Black finish is smooth and consistent and a pleasing matt. Attachment to both the camera body and the Leica lens is very smooth and proper fitting. Not too tight or too lose. No play or wiggle when attached. Vignetting was very light. No color fringing noted at frame edges and the image remains sharp across the entire frame. I see no indication that the results come from a Sony instead of my Leica M240 M-P. Release button is smooth in operation and slightly recessed, so that the button head does not protrude beyond the adapter edges and interfere with the fingers on the right hand, as is the case with some other brand adapters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly I purchased the Novoflex adapter so that I could use my collection of Leica M lenses on my Sony A7R camera body. Since the Novoflex is rather expensive I first bought an inexpensive Brand X adapter. When the Brand X adapter arrived I put it on one of my multi-thousand dollar Leica lenses. The adapter performed properly on the camera but when it came time to take the adapter off of the lens, it was stuck. The release button was completely jammed. I felt plenty stupid having a $30 adapter stuck on a lens that cost more than $5,000. After fretting and carefully nudging for about half an hour I finally got the Brand X adapter off the Leica lens. I promptly, and repentantly, ordered a Novoflex adapter to replace the Brand X. B&H graciously and without question facilitated the replacement. The Novoflex adapter works perfectly. Buyers should be aware that these adapters necessitate using the Sony A7/R in manual mode. This is no burden since the Sony A7/R has magnifying assist for focusing. I was relieved to find that a full-frame lens yields a full-frame result without cropping when mated via the Novoflex adapter to the Sony A7/R body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very expensive and worth it I tried three different adapters to be able to use my Leica M lenses on my Sony A7R. This one is by far the most expensive, and I balked at the pridce, thinking to myself, How can an adapter be worth what this costs? The answer is that it works. It is beautifully machined and feels like it was made by Leica. If you are going to put your wonderful Leica lenses on the very fine Sony A7R, I recommend you get this adapter. I'll bet you will be glad you did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pricey but worth the $$ After trying and rapidly returning an inexpensive Pro L39 thread mount to NEX E-mount adapter (lens mounted upside down, failed to seat properly, felt loose, tiny metal chips inside!!!), I knew I needed this one. Solid, well-built, this Leica M adapter handles all the M-mount lenses I've tried -- and L39 lenses with the common L39-to-M adapters -- without a hitch. When adapters and lenses are all fitted to the camera, no rattles, shakes or slop. I got my Sony NEX-3 specifically to use with film camera lenses, and while I would not hesitate to experiment with some of the inexpensive adapters, I would not do extensive shooting, or risk expensive Leitz mounts and glass, with anything less substantial than the Novoflex adapter. Caveat emptor on the cheapies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Novoflex Leica M to Sony NEX adapter This is the best made adapter that I've used with both my Leica M and Zeiss ZM lenses with my NEX7. I've used both the metabones and fotodiox adapters and both had slight play when in use. With use of such high quailty lenses, I'm pleased to have purchased the Novoflex adapter and it's now a permanent addition to my NEX7 kit. Maybe when I save up enough I'll have an adapter for each of my lenses!... a bit over kill but I can dream.
