Tamrac TR404 ZipShot Mini Tripod
Key Features
  • Snaps Open in Seconds
  • 28" Maximum Height
  • Only 9" Folded Length
  • Integrated Metal Ball Head
The Tamrac TR404 ZipShot Mini Tripod sets up in seconds so you can capture those fleeting moments that require stability – the once-in-a-lifetime shot of the fast-setting sun, the rare animal skulking about the edge of the forest, or the suddenly harmonious family. The design of its aluminum legs will be familiar to any camper: release the two red shock cords, and the leg sections unfurl and quickly snap together like modern tent poles.

The ZipShot Mini is a smaller version of the original TR406 ZipShot tripod. The height of the ZipShot Mini is 28", and it folds down to just 9" for easy transport. In fact, you can use the shock cords to attach the 9 oz tripod to your backpack, camera bag or luggage.

Like its bigger sibling, the Mini features an integrated metal ball head that tilts 180° (for portrait or landscape orientation) and pans a full 360°. A single release lever enables you to position your DSLR, compact digital camera, small camcorder, or flash at any angle. (The TR404 ZipShot Mini supports loads up to 3 lb.) The tripod's standard 1/4"-20 screw fits almost any camera or camcorder.

Perfect travel pod

I bought this pod prior to a 3-week holiday and I love it! I have a Sony Alpha6000 and it had no problems supporting it, including when I had the telephoto lens on. I love how quickly it snaps together and how light it is to carry around. I didn't test it on any serious slopes, only flat ground. As it has very thin supports, I suspect it can't be on much of an angle. This is where a hook would be helpful. Otherwise, it's proved to be a great purchase.

half meter in height for about 250 g very lightweight and does not bother will fit any backpack and larger sling bag, it is super easy to set it up and pack it with a nice ball head as well. However it is not very stable hard to use in a windy day.

I love having this really light tripod for hiking/backpacking. Now I don't have to rely on bad pictures taken by strangers. It is very packable. I wish it was a little taller, but I make due most of the time (which is why it only gets 4 stars).

Ultra compact tripod for travel

I own a Canon T5i with 18-138mm zoom. I bought the Tamrac ZipShot Mini Tripod as an ultra compact tripod that was not a table top unit, meaning it has some height. It is wonderful for travel and takes up much less room than a traditional tripod. It's shock cord construction sets up in seconds. It is limited in weight to 3 lbs. However, the longer lens are too big a strain to hold the camera in position. My camera / lens at just over 2.5 lbs is its limit.

Stability in an Instant

I often find myself in strange low light situations, leaning against trees or walls and trying not to breath as I strive for a crisp image. Like last week when I was shooting a Viking wedding (you heard me...) and wound up trying to shoot dancing around a bonfire. With it small enough to fit in my Thinktank fanny pack, I got set up in half a minute and got shots my client wasn't even expecting. Yes, I was a Norse Hero. This little Zipshot is the BOMB.
