Elinchrom EL31049 overview

  • 1Description

The Elinchrom EL Handheld Boom Arm (25-61") has a rubberized handgrip and can be used to extend lights up to 5.1' (156 cm). This is a more precise, flexible way to position lighting gear (even with umbrellas or softboxes) than placing it on stands, and it takes up less floor space as well. The two sections of the EL-Boom Arm can be quickly adjusted with the clip-locks. The standard spigot mount fits Elinchrom flash heads and the Ranger Quadra heads. The arm will hold approximately 4.4 lb (2 kg).

    Elinchrom EL31049 reviews

EL Handheld Boom Arm (25-61") is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great as a light stick I mount a speed light on this and use it as a light stick for fill light during portrait shots. It is an excellent device - well made, sturdy, not too heavy (could be lighter), extremely easy to adjust. Almost perfect. The only negataive is that the mounting screw has no locking mechanism, so the speed light can come un-screwed as you move it around. I watch it all the time so my speed light + pocket wizard doesn't go splat on the pavement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight support Nice construction, its has a rail that doesn't let the tube turn. In that way you have the control of the direction of your light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boom Arm Lightweight and sturdy. The soft handles are appreciated. The arm packs up nice and small. Great for smaller lights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice light positioning tool. Perfect for moving a speedlight and small light modifier off camera. Allows my assistant to put the light just where I want it. Product seems well made and engineered. There are some situations where a lightstand just won't do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for hand-held strobes w modifier I love using this hand-held boom arm rather than a regular light stand when using a voice activated light stand (aka a human) for holding up a strobe light with modifier. I have used this with a big 6 foot Elinchrom octabox with a Profoto head and it can handle the weight. Why not five stars? I think something has to be out of this world good to earn five stars, and this clocks in as a very good, solid product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built I use it with the Wescott 26 Octa and holds very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT PRODUCT I was searching around for a handheld boomarm that could augment the progression of my assistants. So far, this has been the most relieving and comfortable solution as I've been told. Upon holding it... I did feel the ergonomics of the grip with contrast to the release knobs quite natural. Expect quality out of these Elinchrom products, because they do deliver!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for the Quadra I just stumbled on this boom arm and purchased it. It's a great improvement to the heavy and cumbersome single-length boom we'd been using for the Quadra and it makes lighting outdoor portraits much more of a delight. Well worth the money, and as with all of Elinchrom's products, it should last a nice long life.
