    Nikon 26135B reviews

Coolpix P6000 Digital Camera (Black) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but not great. This P&S was purchased to replace my wife's Canon P&S, and to use it in my workflow, with the Speedlites and RAW capability. It is not, I repeat, not a replacement for a DSLR. But it does take respectable images, and is more than adequate for her needs. It is nice to have as a pocket camera. And it does do a very nice job on quick macro shots. Do get an extra battery, as they tend to lose a charge over time, even if not being shot. Does not utilize the NEF format like the rest of the Nikon RAW line, so you will need an additional plugin or Nikon's software for processing. Has a lot of noise above 400 ISO. But that's typical in a P&S.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Point & Shoot Camera I'm a dSLR user and make it a point to capture my images with a good body and lens. But for those occasions when I just don't feel like lugging around a brick over each shoulder, I now have an alternative solution in the form of the Coolpix P6000. PROS: - Compact - Ideal optical range - Excellent battery life - Ability to shoot in M (manual mode) - Option to use (or not use) flash - Built-in hotshoe CONS: - Slow shutter reaction time (as with any P&S camera) - Uses a proprietary RAW format not shared with Nikon dSLR cameras For a point and shoot camera, the P6000 has definitely exceeded my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool retro look, great photos! I was looking for a small camera with RAW capability. We all know thats the best new technology so no need to explain that the pictures could be easily retouched almost as if you were in a real lab. There is a before and after RAW in photography. Also this is the only PS camera with GPS. Plan a trip, take you Nikon P600 with you, come back home, download the pictures on your MAC; i-photo will create a map with the exact location where they were taken regardless if you were in NYC or the jungle. One more click and you could share them with the map on facebook. My friends couldnt believe it!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Leave your SLR home for family outings I'm a pro photographer and have owned a zillion Nikon pro DSLRs (currently using the D300 + MBD10). My wife shoots with a D70. But when we're out and about with our 2 year old, we just wanted a point a shoot so that we didn't have to deal with the big stuff. The P6000 has controls that are much more similar to Nikon's DSLR line than to a point-and-shoot. Real knob for selecting exposure mode, and a command wheel! So I can be creative and shoot in Aperture Priority. Exposure compensation is simple, and image navigation/deleting/etc. is very straightforward. Image quality is very good so far -- best I've seen in a Nikon or Canon point-and-shoot. Battery life is great (uses a real rechargeable battery, though regrettably it can't share the charger with our DSLRs). Focus lock-on is still slow enough to miss child action as with other similar cameras, but for the most part it does what we need it to with the comfort of a pro quality camera. Ergonomics are great and definitely feel like a pro camera, with rubberized grip, etc. If you're shopping online, it's smaller than you might think from just seeing the photos -- I can put it in my coat/jacket pocket. Overall the new leader of the pack in point-and-shoot cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from waiting too long for a camare like this! great camera, i took it to the park on my first day and i can say that its a great addition to my d200, great for video, and monochrome pics too.Tired of not being able to take my d200 at bars and restaurants or places that wont allow a semi pro camera, I was doing some research and i can Say that I am so happy that i waited and bought this great camera with pro features!! I can also use my Nikon Sb-800 flash, and record gps info into this camera. Picture quality is excellent. You get for what you pay, the only disappointment is that there is no battery meter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I hate this camera I own an SLR and was excited about the P6000 as an alternative to my point and shoot. The P6000 offered many of the controls of an SLR but in a compact package. I could not be more disappointed with this camera because the battery life is horrible. Every time I go to use the camera its DEAD! I thought I had a bad batteries so I replaced it then I thought it was the charger so I replaced that too. Now Nikon is telling me that some times it just goes dead. There is no batterie indicator on the camera so its a shot in the dark if it will work on your next shoot. Also the images taken at 200 ASA and higher or some of the nosiest Ive ever had to work with. If you have a pocket full of Nikon batteries and are shooting at 50ASA then you might love this camera but I hate it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gerat point and shoot. No Raw software Waiting for Raw software.Long time Nikon user. Raw primary reason I bought camera. Easy to carry in pocket. Good photos. As with most point and shoots ISO above 400 noisey. Shutter lag, hold shutter release half down not so bad. No Raw software avaliable yet from anywhere that I know of so far, but knew this. Good quality wide angle, telephoto pictures. Good back up for my Nikon D300.
