Vello CB-600 Reviews

How to avoid slippage with this unit.

Many of us have been writing that the bracket does not hold tight. I too had the problem. But, I found the solution and it works. I went into the local hardware store and bought a soft rubber washer . I put it on the screw that protrudes out then attached the camera and tightened the two together. Holds tight. End of problem. Perhaps Vello would consider including a rubber washer with its unit? It seems that many purchasers have the same issue.

Does its job. Well made. Solid. A bit more expensive then 3rd party versions. No issues as to quality and reliability.

CB-600 and Nikon Z6 II

Right out of the box this flash bracket will NOT work with a Nikon Z series camera, the attaching screw is too long. Had to remove the screw from the bracket, added a 1/2 flat washer, re-attached the screw and all is fine. I expect accessories to work properly right out of the box, that's why the 3 stars, but it's a 5 star product with modifications.

Well made. Better than what is offered on the large websites. We know which one(s). Solid metal. Reasonable cost for what you are getting. Best to wait for the sales to get even larger discounts. I did.

Good basic bracket

A little bit lightweight for my tastes. The flat metal piece could have been thicker and it would have been more stiff. The thumbscrews are good, but are too long for some items such as LED camera lights. I did not use the cold shoe so I can't comment on it.

Simple and useful

This is as simple as it looks. I had hoped to find this kind of item that was an inch or two longer, but the picture and measurement are accurate. Although I've tightened this with effort it can twist below the camera even with modest weight of a Godox Senior Retro Flash. I only give it three stars because it can't be tightened enough to ensure no movement.

Best Budget Bracket

This bracket serves perfectly my need for a budget bracket especially for shooting with that old camera setup of having the flash off the hot shoe next to the camera. I've been able to get that old-school vintage fashion shots shooting with this bracket. If you are looking for a bracket without breaking the bank, look no further.

question

Which Vello cold shoe would you use with this product? There is a Vello shoe for about $6.00 and another for around $8.00. Which one is best? Would be using with a Nikon SB 400 or SB 600 attached to a Nikon D90 or 7000 with battery pack(s).

If you wanted to replace the cold shoe that is included with the Vello CB-600 bracket, this Vello model would work well:Vello Universal Accessory Shoe MountB&H # VECS ? Mfr # CSIt would interface directly with the 1/4-20 screw, also included with the bracket.

question

Does this bracket work with this tripod Magnus PV-3310 ? I am a little concern that they may not work together. Here is my concern. The mount of the tripod, where you attach your camcorder to the tripod, has 1 screw and 1 little BLACK pin that can be pushed up and down. (Note: this little pin will go into a hole at the bottom of the camcorder when you attach your camcorder to the mount.)Now, could the knob at the bottom of bracket overlap with that little BLACK pin on the mount of the tripod when I try attach or screw the bracket into the tripod ?Thanks.

Sorry, I can't help you because I just received this bracket and haven't even taken it out of the package... plus, I won't be using it on a tripod... sorry bout that! MikeLago Vista, TX

question

Can I mount both a camcorder (Sony HDR-CX455) and the Rode VideoMicro Compact On-Camera Microphone to a tripod, using this bracket ?
Asked by: Thanh
Yes. The Sony is 4.8 wide and the bracket is adjustable to accommodate that camera width and fit the Rode microphone with the deadcat wind muffler and still have some room for adjustment.
