    Davis & Sanford FZ10 reviews

    FZ10 3-Way Photo/Video Fluid Head is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Dissapointed It's true, the materials are all good and the design is fine, but D & S put this on the market with a very serious design flaw and that is the threading on the adjustment arms are much to course. The result is that the head is either tight and won't pan/swivel or if you just turn the handle the slightest bit it becomes totally loose. So what happens when you pan is that you set it to have resistance and make a smooth swing, but at some point in the pan it will either slip and move quickly or become too tight and barely move at all. The point is that I could not get smooth panning and that is what this is designed for. !@#$%^The company needed to put fine threads on the arms so that you can adjust the pressure more finely to get a pan or tilt WITHOUT JERKING.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Uncommon quality for the money With both still and video capabilities in a camera, it's become important to have a versatile 3-way fluid head that can be used for either type of shooting. The build quality is very good...seems like heavy gauge plastic or vinyl over solid metal castings; this also acts as an insulator for your hands in cold or hot ambient conditions. Movements have a good fluid resistance. The screw-in controlling handles are also of solid construction; 1 is shorter than the other, so you have the choice of which length to use in whatever axis you prefer. Although some axis rotation options allow for full 90 degrees, others are a bit restricted and only allow slightly less...but this can be worked around by pre-planning your set-up. I also bought an extra quick-release head for a dedicated videocamera. All-in-all, compared to other 3-way fluid heads, I think this is the best value on the market at present.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the price, it can't be beat...quality is excellent I already had a great tripod for my pano photography and the Nodal Ninja Rotator. I bought another tripod with a head on it for stills and video but the tilt was horrible so I returned to to Best Buy. I then searched around B&H and found this fluid head. I'm glad I did. The quality is fantastic. The price is very reasonable. Pan and Tilt are perfect and quiet. Now I just have one great tripod with the Rotator and this Fluid Head so I can take any shot I need. It's actually better than I expected and it's much better than carrying around another tripod. I'm not sure why anyone would write a bad review on this product because it is perfect for what I do. I'm very satisfied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Get Manfrotto 804RC2 instead I am a big fan of Davis and Sanford's video tripod and I own a couple of them but this head. . . not so much. I bought this in January and I just thrown it away. I couldn't remove my camera from the head because of the plate getting stuck. I used Philips screw driver to loosen the screw and everything fell apart. I bought the Manfrotto 804RC2 and I am very happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this product I bought my tripod with the v12 head.I cannot do a vertical shot with this head. The Z10 however can do both vertical and horizantal shots. It is stable and smooth.I would recomend this item to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I thought it would be Bought this as a FLUID replacement head for my really old lightweight Gitzo Tripod. I love my Gitzo's but did not love the head on that tripod. It finally broke ( metal cracked due to fatigue of 30 yrs ) and I did not want to spend a fortune replacing it. So I got this one, because I have also purchased a Manfrotto NON fluid head, and wanted the option of having both. Super Lightweight, very very strong, SMOOTHER FLUID THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FOR THE PRICE, and best of all when you clamp it down, it stays put. The one thing I super triple like about it as opposed to my bigger Manfrotto Fluid head, is that it goes VERTICAL !!! So it really does double as a true vertical and horrizontal tripod head for conventional photography, but has fluid movements on all three axis for video ( not that you would need vertical fluid movements most or any of the time - but its there if you do) Never really had any experience with this brand, it was cheep enough so I picked it up on a whim. But really, its of great quality and I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Great as a back-up, or as a duel purpose head on a lighter tripod situation. Oh, and it has spirit levels on both axis, another plus. Extremely happy with this replacement head, especially for the money. Don't be fooled by it's inexpensive price. It's a winner for light duty tripod work and light 35mm dlsr's. Buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet for the money! For the money this thing is awesome! Fluid and very smooth. I had to make custom handles since the ones that came with it were a little long. Which would have been great use on a tripod but I am using this paticular head on a custom slide dolly. I shoot with a Canon 7D. Mostly film. Full 360, tilt, all angles are great

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tripod head w/all features I need Fluid head has smooth damping. Three way pan/tilt/flip great for both video and still photography. Feels very solid. Item arrived with some oil on it, after contacting the company they said it is not unusual to have some oil on product and it can be cleaned with mineral spirits.
