Canon E2 overview

  • 1Description

The black Hand Strap E2 from Canon is designed to add support and comfort to hand-holding a Canon DSLR camera. The strap attaches to the eyelets at the sides of the camera. The wide palm pad makes using your camera more comfortable. It also comes with a removable tripod socket adapter that can be used instead of threading one side of the strap through an eyelet. In that case, the strap attaches to one eyelet and the tripod socket of your camera. In many instances, this may provide increased ergonomic comfort and balance to your camera.

    Canon E2 reviews

Hand Strap E2 (Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 126.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from First Hand Strap bought I got tired of the neck strap flopping around and purchased this strap for use on a Canon 70d with a 70-200mm lens attached the majority of the time. Overall the product works well. It is easy to install and looks good. My main complaint so far is that I noticed(thank goodness), that the locking latch on top of the hand pad comes unlatch sometimes. I just make sure I periodically check it to make sure it's still locked down. Also the screw on mount at the bottom of the camera does not allow the camera to be place flat on a surface. Be aware so your camera doesn't tip over. It does make carrying the camera and heavy lens easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy camera a lot easier to hold. The E1 hand strap on my T3i body with battery grip made the rig so much easier to hold and carry, that when I bought my new 7D mark II with battery grip, another hand strap was an essential item to purchase. The E2 hand strap loops directly into the battery grip on the bottom. If you're not using a grip, there is a removable tripod adapter that screws into the camera's tripod socket. It takes quite a while to get the straps all comfortably adjusted and neatly tucked away. Your right hand will get a lot less tired holding a heavy rig when you have the extra support of a well-adjusted hand strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I was highly impressed by excellent design of the product. When mounted on Canon 60D (and other compatible cameras) you can easily add a neck strap as well, and most importantly you can attach a monopod/tripod without removing the strap. It gives you an added security and better grip. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Backup for Camera's Protection I had first seen the hand strap while watching a CreativeLive (live classroom stream) event and I had never thought of using a hand strap before that. I noticed the photographer using it and thought I'd try it for myself. To start things off, I use the strap as an extra layer of protection, NOT as a means to constantly support the weight of my camera. For that I absolutely swear by BlackRapid (sold here on B&H!) which has revolutionized the way I carry my camera. The purpose of the Canon hand strap for me is extra protection (not trying to sound like a broken record) for many different situations: when I'm not wearing my BlackRapid, in a crowded area where my camera can easily be knocked around, hanging out of a moving vehicle, leaning over an edge, etc. The strap is very comfortable to wear, quality seems up to par with Canon's standards and I have experienced zero chaffing. I should also mention I use this strap with a Canon battery grip on my 7D, so I do not need to use the tripod mount screw attachment. Even though the details did not list the 7D as compatible, with a battery grip it most certainly is (I asked B&H's Live Chat before purchasing to make sure. They're fantastic to use for those types of questions!). The hand strap has held up to the test (was photographing snowboarding and had my lens was bumped, my hand lost grip but the strap was there securing the camera to my hand) and I've already recommended it to a number of photography friends. One quick note on fitting the strap; you certainly need to find your happy place with the strap. With the most comfortably-tightened position, my Men's size-Large hands were unable to properly use the shutter click wheel with my index finger. I had to loosen it slightly to where I was able to freely adjust the click wheel. A second note, there is a quick release adjustment piece that allows for, well, quick adjustments. Very helpful if you anywhere near frozen tundras similar to Minnesota and are wearing gloves, you can simply and quickly adjust for them. I haven't come close to running out of adjustment room wearing Large gloves. On a last note (I promise) I still had full access to the buttons on the battery grip while in portrait mode. Just making sure I'm covering all the bases here! Hopefully this is enough information to help you make a decision in protection of your hefty photography investment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for! I use this product with my 5DIII. It attaches to the body on the top end, I detached the Tripod Socket Adapter and attach the hand strap to my RRS L-Bracket on the bottom end. Adjusted the hand strap till it was nice and snug and it is a pleasure to use. Very grateful for the double eyelet at the top of the hand strap allowing me to attach my Tamrac N-45 Foam Padded Leather Quick Release Camera Strap simultaneously. The combination yields the best of both the hand strap and neck strap worlds!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfactory I have done away with the Canon neck strap and am using a Black Rapid setup. I use a Kirk mount attached to the Camera, and have a Kirk QCR1 clamp on the Black Rapid Strap. The Canon Hande Strap attaches nicely to the camera this way. There are times I do not feel like using the Black Rapid, but want more security than simply holding the bare camera. This hand strap gives quite a bit more protection than simply holding the camera by the grip. It still requires care, as the camera can slip out, but it is much better than just the camera grip itself. The hand strap seems to give better stabilization than just a bare camera. It sometimes requires a little adjustment to get my finger on the buttons, but it is satisfactory.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Doesn't slip on so easily I use this hand strap on my Canon 5DmkII with BG-E6 battery grip. It takes a bit of figuring out, but if you take a close look at the instructions, you'll have no issues attaching it to your camera. What I like (and didn't know when I purchased it) is that you can remove the spindle-attachment if you have a battery grip and connect the strap directly to the battery grip. Score. Perhaps my hand is too big (I'm 5'11 tall and typically wear a med-large glove size) or I adjusted the straps too tightly - but I don't find it that easy to slip on. I slip my hand through it and it covers my knuckles, then I need to use my left-hand to pull the strap over the top of my hand. If I loosen it, I don't find I have a good grip. Perhaps it's the nature of the beast? Other than that, when I overcome that obstacle, it's comfortable and secure. I've been wanting to get rid of the neck-strap since I never use it as a neck-strap except to hang it off my shoulder. I find I'm taking more portrait shots with it on rather than taking my hand out and using my battery grip (BG-E6). It also has a slim-enough profile that if I'm picking up the camera to take a quick shot, and don't have time to slip my hand through the grip, it doesn't get in the way. One last key element of this product that I like is that you can connect the neck-strap if you wish to use both. I did not know that when I purchased it. So, all in all, very versatile and fits in with well with the other accessories.
