Nikon 26103B overview

  • 1Description

The Nikon Coolpix S210 Digital camera provides images with up to 8 effective megapixels of resolution and a 3x Zoom-NIKKOR glass lens for incredibly sharp and detailed images. The addition of Nikon Electronic Vibration Reduction (VR) Image Stabilization technology along with a Sensitivity equivalent to ISO 2000 ensures that your photos will always look great - regardless of lighting conditions or subject movement.

All of these features are mediated by Nikon's innovative EXPEED image processing system which provides enhanced noise reduction and improved signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio. Furthermore, the camera's slim, quality-crafted aluminum body delivers high performance and ease-of-operation in a package that you can carry around with you - always.

The Nikon S210 also makes shooting incredibly easy with user-friendly imaging innovations known as Nikon In-camera Innovations. These include In-Camera Red-Eye Fix which automatically detects and corrects red eye, a common condition that occurs in flash photography, D-Lighting which compensates for excessive backlight or insufficient flash in images, and Face Priority AF which automatically finds and focuses on up to 12 people's faces within one frame, ensuring clear, crisp portraits. Furthermore, the 210 includes Nikon's Coolpix Software Suite for organizing, editing and sharing your photos.

The Coolpix S210 incorporates a bright, high resolution 2.5-inch LCD monitor with a wide viewing angle that has an anti-reflective coating, thereby easing the composition and viewing of photos even in direct sunlight, and an acrylic panel over the LCD that prevents damaging scratches and fingerprints. The S210 also boasts improved menu displays, as well as revised menu icons that will make framing photos easier than ever before.

8.0 Megapixel Resolution
With 8.0 million pixels of image information, the Nikon Coolpix S210 can produce stunning, photo quality prints up to 20 x 30" without any loss of image quality.
3x Optical Zoom-Nikkor ED Glass Lens
The Zoom Nikkor Lens incorporates exclusive ED lens elements and provides a 3x optical zoom (38 - 114mm equivalent) while the Macro capability lets you get as close as 1.6" to your subject.
Electronic VR (Vibration Reduction) Image Stabilization
The Coolpix S200 incorporates an Electronic VR (Vibration Reduction) system which functions by taking data from a built-in angular velocity sensor, then applies in-camera image processing to turn blurred images into beautifully sharp results.
Slim, Stylish, All-metal Design
With a slim, sophisticated Design this ultra-compact digital camera easily slips right into your shirt pocket or purse, and its good looks are complemented by incredible durability due to the all-metal casing.
Movie and Voice Recording
Shoot Broadcast quality QuickTime movies with sound and VGA resolution at 30 frames per second at a length that is only limited by the available space on the internal memory or your SD memory card.
Light Sensitivity up to ISO 2000
High light sensitivity up to ISO 2000 allows you to tackle scenes and situations that many compact cameras cannot, with the power to capture fast-moving objects with outstanding clarity and gives you great exposures in lower light.
15 Scene Modes
The Coolpix S210 incorporates 15 scene modes that cover some of the more common difficult shooting situations to maximize the image quality. The scene modes automatically adjust focus, exposure, white balance and other settings to make getting a good exposure easy.
Nikon In-camera Innovations
The Coolpix S210 features a selection of three innovative functions that provide the ability to actually improve the quality of images within the camera - these include Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and D-Lighting.

  • In-Camera Red-Eye Fix
This Feature automatically fixes most instances of red-eye - right in the camera. Red-eye is commonly caused by the use of a built-in flash on a compact camera.
  • Improved Face-Priority AF
The Nikon Face-Priority AF system automatically detects and achieves sharp focus on people's faces wherever they are in the frame for crisp, sharp portraits - and now it focuses on faces faster than ever. The feature can find and focus on up to 12 faces to ensure superb group portraits.
  • Nikon D-Lighting
The Nikon D-Lighting feature can rescue underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight by automatically creating a copy of the image, then brightening the dark areas in the picture, while the well-exposed areas are left completely untouched.
Built-in and Expandable Memory
The camera includes 52MB of built-in memory so you can begin taking shots immediately without having to purchase a memory card, and the memory capacity can be expanded dramatically with Secure digital (SD) or Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards.
Bright 2.5-inch LCD
The Coolpix S210 is equipped with a bright 2.5" LCD that is great for viewing images anywhere, anytime. The impressive 170 degree wide viewing angle makes it easier for everyone to see and enjoy images.
Auto Image Rotation
The Auto Image Rotation feature detects pictures that have been taken with the camera held vertically and automatically rotates the image for in-camera LCD playback.
Print Directly or Show Pictures on a TV
You can send images directly to print, without the need of a PC, when using PictBridge and USB Direct Print compatible printers, or connect directly to your TV for family slide shows and presentations.

    Nikon 26103B reviews

Coolpix S210 Digital Camera (Plum) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great starter, take-it-anywhere camera. I just got this camera and snapped several shots. My first impression observations. 1. EXTREMELY small camera. If you've got big hands or can't handle small objects, this camera may be a little hard to use. The buttons are fairly flush against the camera body. 2. Camera powers on and powers down very quickly. A plus for me when I'm whipping out my camera to take a quick picture. 3. Fairly easy to use interface. Not many functions, buttons, and gizmos built in. That's a plus for people who want a no-frill, easy-to-use camera. But this is a ultracompact point-and-shoot camera. You want that. If you want the fancy controls and options, get yourself a full-bodied SLR camera. 4. Picture taking in dim lighting and indoors is very good. Pictures came out very bright and looked very natural. 5. Zoom was fast enough. I have no complaints about that. 6. Time between snapping pictures and picture storage was very good. No annoying delays between pictures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice little camera I'm used to an SLR and usually have my D70 on me. I bought this to carry with me on the rare occasions I don't want the big camera. So far I've had good results with this camera. The small lens is the limiting factor as it is for most point and shoots, and cannot compare to an SLR. I do wish it had a viewfinder, because when you are in full daylight the LCD screen can be difficult to see. I also wish you could make simple adjustments like white balance or exposure adjustments without entering the MENU mode. Photo quality is quite reasonable for a point and shoot. Haven't tried video mode yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little camera Very easy to use entry level autocamera. Small metal body fits in you shirt pocket. Good sharp images with great midtones. Acceptable battery life. I am used to pro SLRs, but this is a good fun camera to carry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for grab and go! I bought the Coolpix S210 as a backup/accessory p/s for times when the digital slr just wasn't going to be appropriate. Very pleased with this camera so far. Why I like it: Cost was very reasonable for the features. 8MP is more than enought resolution for the types of shots I'd be taking. I have a 4GB Sandisk Extreme III card in it. Video grab w/audio. Perfect for those quick scenes. Camera can store up to 30m of video. Fun!!! I put this camera in an Aquapac bag, which you can get from b & h as well, and it went into the lake, the river, etc....beats a disposable by a mile. Drawbacks? P/S cameras are of course slow when you're used to shutter speed of a slr, and the lcd display as viewfinder, like most p/s models, washes out completely in bright sun. Would buy again, overall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is perfect I found myself going to Rome for a wedding and needed something small but good. This camera fit the bill. It fit easily in my little purse for the wedding along with my hotel keys, my wallet and a bathing suit ( there was a pool at the reception-it's Rome). The pictures where close to great resolution but not quite there. That would be my only issue with it. But it was really good in all lighting situations and I came home with amazing memories and fantastic photos!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Buy As a former pro photograher, I wanted something small that would fit in my pocket. This unit is perfect for that. The picture quality is great. Was surprised by the excellent quality of the short movies you can do with this camera as well. Excellent camera to have as a first unit or as a backup. The only problem is that the on/off and trigger buttons are a little small for big fingers but that is easy to adapt to. Overall excellent choice for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great no nonsense point-and-shoot I carry this camera with me always. I want it at my side for unexpected moments and when I least expect to be needing a camera. The ultra small size of this camera makes it ideal for carrying around. The camera is very easy to use; is no nonsense; and takes good picture all around in various light settings. The LCD screen is very large for its size and very bright. And the downtime between taking pictures isn't too bad. Repeat, multiple picture taking is doable. Plus, this is a Nikon. I own an old Nikon 5005s. Nikon cameras are built solid and like a tank. Many complain that Nikon cameras are too heavy, but some of us appreciate the solid feel of a Nikon. Even though this point-and-shoot camera is ultra-small, it still feels solid all around for its size. The metal casing feels very well made and durable. The only potential downside of this camera is that it may be too small for those who have big hands. The buttons are very small and not so easy to use. But all-in-all, this is a great, ultra-compact camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Results / Minimum Size Although we have two other Nikon digital cameras I wanted one to fit in my purse and always have with me. I'm thrilled with the pictures I've shot so far. Clarity using the macro is great. Amazing variety of features for size and price.
