Canon 3421B009AA overview

  • 1Description

The Canon FS200 is an entry level flash memory camcorder for the budget-minded that can capture up to 20 hours of video on a removable 32GB card. Flash memory is a compact media that doesn't rely on moving parts to work; it's also easy to upload to your computer for editing and sharing on the Internet.

The FS200 features a 1/6" CCD image sensor, Canon's DIGIC DV II Image Processor, 41x Advanced Zoom, and a 2.7" LCD display. This camera also captures digital stills and comes with extras like external microphone and headphone jacks.

Soccer moms and dads will appreciate the Pre-record mode, which captures a full 3 seconds of video before you hit the button, ensuring that you won't miss the start of the action.

In addition, the built-in video light, Quick Start mode and Intelligent Li-ion battery all make your recording experience a pleasant one. The FS200 gives you the convenience of flash memory at an affordable price.

Record to Flash Memory
Recording to SDHC flash memory cards keeps things simple and frees you up from carrying around bulky media. Store over 20 hours of footage on a 32GB card.
Image Sensor & DIGIC DV II
The FS200's 1/6" CCD image sensor works in tandem with Canon's DIGIC DV II Image Processor to reduce image noise and customize the color and tonality of your video and still images.
41x Advanced Zoom
Canon's 41x Advanced Zoom lets you record far off subjects clearly and in focus with almost no loss in image quality.
2.7" Widescreen LCD
The widescreen LCD gives you a generous display on which to compose and playback your shots, not to mention an accurate view of what you're actually recording.
Digital Photos
There's no need to carry both a digital camera and camcorder to every event. The FS200 captures digital still photos to SDHC memory cards and includes special functions to make shooting easier, such as scene modes and auto focus.
Electronic Image Stabilization
The electronic image stabilizer corrects for inevitable camera shake, not just due to an unsteady hand but also when your subject is moving or you're accidentally bumped.

    Canon 3421B009AA reviews

FS200 Flash Memory Camcorder (Misty Silver) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight Heavy Hitter This camera is a match to all my performance criteria. Im in the the military and documenting my first deployment. This camera is so light that I barely even notice it in my cargo pocket or in a pouch on my already over burdened armor vest. Good in the early morning light that we operate in. Image stabilization is awesome, you barely notice any hand shake. So far, in one month its withstood well without a scratch, and Ive dropped it several times. Battery life is superb for its size at 3.5 hours. Lacking night vision capabilities, or a significant light- but what can you expect from such a small package?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice little camcorder This is my first flash memory camcorder. I was concened about transferring the videos to my computer but it is real easy and fast. The included software works well with my windows xp pc and you end up with mpg. files that you can edit in windows movie maker. I only used disc 1 of the software and that is all I need. Video quality is pretty good for a camera this cheap and tiny. I also have a vixia hv 30, but it is a lot easier to carry and use the fs 200.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great DV camcorder! I was pleasantly surprised at just how compact thins thing was when I opened the box. It's our first camcorder; I chose Canon because all of our other cameras are Canon, and we've had nothing but good experiences with them. I haven't tried any low-light shooting yet, so we haven't noticed any of the the low- light noise that people mention in their reviews- I'm sure their will be some, but this is an entry level camera, and we typically don't do too much low light stuff anyway. The controls are intuitive and easy to use, menus easy to navigate on the fly, etc. Learning curve is very short; you'll have to try hard to find a better camera in this price range.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It has everything that I want but... It has everything that I want, like external mic jack, earphone jack, and is relatively inexpensive. However, there is one issue so far. The auto focus takes longer to work, than my older sony. The Cannon will oscillate back and forth a few times until it focuses. The Sony will snap right into focus. But for our purposes, the Cannon is ideal, because we will be using it to record the Rabbi's lectures, so the camera will be mounted on a tripod. The autofocus is not an issue. So for our use, the camera is 5 stars, but for all purpose shooting, I will go with four stars because of the autofocus issue. The external mic jack is critical. I already have a decent camcorder (the Sony) but the sound recording is dependent on the internal microphones, which pick up camera noise. Since I am recording lectures, an external mic jack is critical. Sony, take note! Why do many and most camcorder manufacterers leave out the mic jack? Beats me because this is the most desired feature for my purpose.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from external mic and headphone jacks Bought the FS200 because it was the cheapest flash camcorder with both an external mic and headphone jack. Doesn't work out the box, need a memory card. Sound with internal mic is sufficient, but nothing fantastic. Simple to use. Very good as first camcorder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet Little Camera I bought this camera at the last minute to film my son's wedding, so I only had enough time to learn a few basics. First of all, I loved B&H's price...blew everyone else out of the water. The camera is compact and takes great pictures. I love the zoom power. It came with an AC power cord that also charges the battery and a USB cable to hook it up to the computer. I bought an 8gb high-speed card to use with it and it seems to work great. My card reader wouldn't let me read the card, though, but I got it to work by plugging the camera into the computer. I still need to do some reading of the manual when I get some time to learn a few things, but so far this has been a great little camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for a beginner in video. Did well with limited light in a program. Easy to download into computer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little early, but so far so good! I purchased this video camera (18 years since my last) to record my son's senior prom, HS awards ceremonies & graduation. I have only used it twice so far and look forward to the next. Very easy to use and hold. I highly recommend the non-touch display for which most of the cannon line has. A view through would have been nice for outside video, but would have added weight and size. I played back the prom video on my 47 LED LCD TV and the colors were bright and image was crisp. I would have to say that the FS200 has the best bang for the buck at this time for a camera in this league.
