Canon 3535B005AA reviews

VIXIA HF20 Dual Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy With Purchase Works great. I bought a mini-HDMI cable to connect to TV. Looks better than anything from cable or satellite. Using max resolution mode, battery life matches what a 16GB SDHC card can store. I like the variable zoom rate. Push a lot and you zoom fast. A lighter touch produces a slower zoom. Has a setting where it constantly records, always keeping the last three seconds. When you push record, you actually have the previous three seconds. Didn't take long to get accustomed to the menus. Easy to use. I really like this camcorder. Much better than old mini-DVD camera I had. I have not used the enclosed video editing software yet - can't address it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fine consumer camcorder I wrote about this camcorder earlier and gave it good reviews, but complained about the low light video quality. I discovered that the video recording can be set to night mode and the video quality improves quite a bit. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST! :-$ After reading through many other reviews about different camcorders, I am convinced that 1/4 of the writers are first time users without a clue to proper device use. Please do your research carefully before buying and writing about your purchase. I bought this to capture classroom lectures and the ability to add an external microphone helps a great deal to make quality recordings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes your dollar go a long way I recently opened up a movie making production company called Hamden Hideaway Productions. I have been using this camera to film my movies and I have to say it is perfect! It is extremely portable and even out of the box has a large amount of battery time. And for an HD quality camera, this is extremely cheap. The great thing about this camera also is that it has the ability to incorporate a lot of outside attachments such as an external microphone, LCD moniter, as well as head phones. You can make this camera into quite a powerful machine with the right add ons. All around this is an extremely well made product and I have no complaints as of yet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE I have owned this for 3 months now, and I am very unhappy. Video files are stored in a proprietary *.MTS format making videos useless unless you want to burn to DVD or use the camera as a very expensive DVR. You must use the included software to save videos to your hard drive which is very clunky, and doesn't have a way to convert to a more mainstream format like AVI, MPEG, or MP4. I can't even upload to YouTube! I am very loyal to Canon, owning 3 still-cameras, so a move to video seemed like a no-brainer. Boy was I wrong! If I could do it over again, I wouldn't have bought this. Sure, the camcorder operates decent, takes good quality vids, BUT THE ONLY WAY TO SHARE IS THROUGH THE CAMERA OR A DVD?! That's a dealbreaker for me...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Everything a camera should be First time I've shot with a tapeless system. Now video is as fun as digital still photography. I find that I try more shots because it's as easy as deleting instead of storing a tape. Small size fits in one of my lens slots in my Nikon camera's bag. HD and a great still camera all in one bag. I'm loving that. Works great with Final Cut, amazing picture quality, but beyond that the meter is great at tricky lighting situations. Back lighting in particular. It's great to have aperture and speed priority settings as well. My one nit pick is the record button sticks way out there off the back of the camera. So I see that it's taking kind of beating in my camera bag. I'm concerned that it will be problematic in the future. But for now, two shows down and many many to go, I'm very happy to have this technology in my bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Compact HD Camera Got this camera a week ago and wasn't sure if I would like it or not. The verdict is that I love it! Great quality video, shoots decent stills, built in light/flash, compact, loaded with manual features (focus, exposure, aperture etc..). Couldn't decide if I wanted a tape based camera or a file based. File transfers on this camera are very fast, 20 minutes of footage transfers in about 5 minutes. One major drawback is that you must connect power to the wall before transferring files form internal memory. I would think you could still do it while on battery power, but you are forced to plug into the wall for this. You can record to an SD card and just pop the card into your computer if you so desire. The files edit well on my computer in Adobe Premiere CS4. I have not used the provided software for editing so I can't comment on it. AVCHD is a processor intensive file format for playback and editing, be sure to find some sample clips to download before purchasing just to make sure your computer can handle them. Only one of the three computers in our house can play and edit them decently. I have my record quality set to XP+ which is the middle setting. Great camera, great features I would recommend this to anyone needing a reasonably priced HD video camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camcorder Great Camcorder...simple design with great features. I bought this because we are expecting our first child in April and I wanted to have a video camera to capture all those first moments. So far I have just played around with it filming the our cat and dogs. I have edited with FInal Cut Express and although it took a few minutes to figure out how to get the video off the camera...that was mainly due to my not wanting to read the manual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Feel LIke I'm at a Live Concert When I first got the camera, I filmed my daughter's high school band concert...and with the resolution, I felt like I was at a high quality if I were watching a high definition public television concert.
