    Canon 3569B002AA reviews

VIXIA HF S100 Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 181.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to beat Could not be more satisfied. Besides its sofisticated design, HF-S100 is very confortable in hands and produce astonishing video and photo images. The menu interface also impressed me, the most inteligent I ever saw. Very intuitive and easy to change and tweak functions. There are strong competition this year in its class. Ive considered Sony xr500 and Panny TM-300 but in the end the big sensor, lens and sofisticated design of the HFS100 catches me and Im very happy with my choice. The workflow pleased me a lot too. Very easy and quick to transfer material to PC and my Premiere Elements 7 handles pretty good with all formats, 60i, 24f and 30f....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and versatile. Great buy. A great little camera that allows the novice to pick up and shoot right out of the box, while letting the advanced user have control over the image. The manual focus lets you get great macro shots, and white balancing is fast and easy. You'll need an SD memory card, make sure it transfers at 24mb/s. I got a card that does 15mb/s, and can't shoot at the highest definition settings. Lower light situations get grainy fast, and the auto-focus can get confused easily. These are issues nearly every camera has, though. The Air Force is sending me to Japan next month, and I'm really excited that I'll have this camera with me. I can't recommend it enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent res. and feature set I traded in my Canon GL2 because it was just too big of a pig to lug around. I'm amazed of the small size of the HF S100 and quality, that surpasses the GL2. The GL2 has better low light capability, but how often are you going to shoot in near darkness? The lower light sensitivity is about the only thing the GL2 seems to excel at versus the hf s100. As with the GL2, you can control the shutter speed, aperture, light color, audio levels, focus, set zebra bars, and more. Regarding camera images, the HF S100 has a 8 MP still capture. It's really an amazing camera - highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great prosumer option I chose this camera primarily as a solution for home movies, but wanted the option to use it for small professional projects. It succeeds in both capacities. My wife is able to reliably use the camera AND it has the quality and professional features required to get commercial quality content when required. It probably isn't the best option for full-time television production, but could be used as a solid b-cam on a limited budget. Post production workflow is still bleeding edge, so do your homework before going this route. There are a lot of pitfalls - but they're manageable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low light & image stabilization excel No illumination needed for low light, in fact the screen makes objects easier to see than by direct eyesight. The .2 lux is for real. The image stabilization is actually too good. I was videoing a rough ride in a hovercraft and wanted to show, by the screen images shaking around, how rough the ride was. However, the playback video was completely steady, no movement. Now I know to turn it off and also to turn it off when using a tripod. No other camcorder for the money can do what this cam does. It would be nice to have a separate battery charger to have a spare battery fully charged and waiting to swap out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera, great HD option This camera is great, professional quality in a small package, the color saturation is very accurate and natural. I use this camera for shortfilms and wedding video and I'm having excellent footage. The 1080 interlaced video at 60fps mode, is great for 3D HD video with the proper 3D adapter, and the 24p mode is excellent for shoot a shortfilm with a cinema look. The only bad think is the Pixela ImageMixer software provided, I couldnt get to work in my core 2 duo lapotop with 4 Gb RAM, better to get a converter and use other NLE software, or if you have the luck and the budget, edit directly the MTS files in Final Cut.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good image quality, but hard to archive The image quality is great in bright sunny days. But indoor shoot is not as good. I just used it indoor to shoot my daughter's graduation ceremony. Image quality is good overall, but when I zoom in closer to a person, the image quality is not as good. It is easy to store the video from flash card to PC. However, if you want to play it on your HDTV in the future like me, you have to use Canon's software to copy the video files from the PC location where you original stored. It takes some time. If you want to edit the video, the software coming with it is too simple. And you need a powerful PC to do it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Consumer Grade Camera Pros: For the price you will not find a better video camera. The HD image quality is comparable to professional camcorders. People say the lens cap rattles but that goes away when shooting so don't worry about it. Cons: The battery life is much to be desired, and while the image quality is close to a professional camera, the features are not. Features like manual focus and aperture limited and difficult to get too. Also the lens is very narrow, making almost everything you shoot a close up, think about getting a wide angle lens attachment. Which is also another nice feature of this camera that you can actually attach one. A wide angle lens and a rode video mic makes this a very nice camera.
