Yes the stickie part goes directly on the lavalier, I've used them on multiple lavs in the past and never ran into this issue. However in your case try using the microphone with the clip to avoid further problems.

The Rycote Overcovers Advanced are larger in size than the original Rycote Overcovers. The Advanced Overcovers measure 1" (26mm) in diameter and the fur appears to be more dense than the fur on the original Overcovers.

Hey Joshua, I often reuse the same cover on the same actors/subjects. They do eventually get frazzled and kinda gross cause there is no way to wash them, but you can easily get a few uses or more out of them before tossing them.

they do help reduce but not ilimate it all proper placement and strain relief on the lav wire is just as important, with folk that have larger chests right about the breast bone is best sticky side on skin with smaller chest put on shirt fuzzy side facing the skin... with males with alot of chest hair it is best to hide the lav elsewhere, these are also one stick wonders once you remove it you will need a new one, you cant reuse.
