Nady SP-4C overview

  • 1Description

The Nady SP-4C is a handheld cardioid dynamic microphone offering a cost-effective solution for reproduction of vocals and speech in public address and live stage applications. Its dynamic element utilizes a neodymium magnet for high output without excessive preamp gain and delivers a frequency response of 50 Hz to 12 kHz. Low noise and distortion are achieved through the incorporation of a humbucking voice coil and the transformerless design.

The internal multi-axis rubber shockmount isolates the mic element from the body, reducing noise from microphone handling. An on/off switch is provided for convenient muting of the mic between speeches or performances. The SP-4C features durable, all-metal construction and includes a 15' XLR to 1/4" cable.

    Nady SP-4C reviews

SP-4C Handheld Cardioid Dynamic Microphone is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad Used in a cafeteria as a PA mic. Sound was good, pickup worked well. Sound quality was good, not too much low or high end, balanced. Downside, it was used in an abusive environment and the windscreen does not stay on anymore. Metal body helped it last about a year before I had to replace it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value for light use For the price these sound remarkably good for speaking and, with the cable included, it's almost like you getting mic for free (a cable alone costs about as much as this package). Has nice low-end for male voices (may need to turn down the 'low' for clarity). These mics/cables are not suited for demanding/heavy use, but with gentle use can last a long time. I recommend buying two (or more), so if/when something breaks you always have a backup - still far cheaper than a pro mic/cable. The included cable is not high-quality and, though it works, is likely to fail soon with frequent use (do not bend!). We use these for hosting bar trivia every week (always with a backup). The switch is handy as it saves turning down the mic channel every time you want to set it down. Overall the Nady SP-4C is a low-cost solution for occasional speaking or for your kids' karaoke machine. If you sing in a band or speak professionally, invest in a Shure SM58 (or better) and two pro-grade cords (one for backup) instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds fine. Works as advertised. Using in simple talk format. Sounds fine, decent construction, great price. Others expressed disappointment with the included cables so I didn't even bother. I got as good as, to better than I expected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from sounds good but cheaply made easily broken Nady mics are cheap I know that. I have used lots of them over the years in my elementary school. This particular one is super cheap and if you drop it once it's done, the housing is made of a very thin metal that cracks easily. The mic actually sounds great, as do most of the Nady SP series mics. This one is just so flimsy, I bought a 3 pack of them and after two months they are all broken. There is not enough duct tape in the world to hold these together.
