Nikon 26179B overview

  • 1Description

At just 0.8" thin, the Nikon Coolpix S570 Digital Camera easily slips into your pocket or handbag. The stylish, metal camera body houses a brilliant 12.0 megapixel sensor, Nikkor 5x optical zoom lens, and Nikon's latest Smart Portrait System. Advanced Face-Priority Technology focuses and tracks up to 12 individual faces in your frame. Newly developed Skin Softening offers three levels of in-camera smoothing while Smile Timer, Blink Proof, Blink Warning, and Red Eye Fix functions combine to keep all of your subjects looking their best.

Smart Auto Selector makes taking great pictures as easy as point and shoot. By analyzing your subject and environmental setting, the S570 automatically selects one of six programmed scene modes to ensure the highest possible image quality. 4-way Image Stabilization combines high ISO sensitivity, electronic Vibration Reduction, Motion Detection, and Best Shot Selector Technology to bring you crisp, perfectly focused photos - even under low lighting conditions. Easy to carry and simple to use, the Nikon Coolpix S570 is the perfect ultra compact to take with you everywhere.

High Resolution Imaging
12.0 megapixels provides ample resolution for stunning prints up to 16 x 20".
Ultra Thin and Compact
Slim and stylish, the metal body design of the Coolpix S570 is less than 1" thin. Slip it in your shirt pocket or purse. This is the camera that you can and will take everywhere.
5x Nikkor Zoom Lens
This advanced optic provides brilliant coverage for all of your subjects. From sweeping landscapes to sports action photography, all of your pictures are captured with stellar sharpness and life-like color.
Bright, 2.7" LCD
Featuring specialized anti-glare coatings, this 2.7" LCD makes composing and reviewing photos and video an absolute pleasure.
Scene Auto Selector
Nikon's Scene Auto Selector eliminates the need to manually select a scene mode to match the shot, making it faster and easier to capture the moment. The Coolpix S570 uses this intelligent function to analyze the subject and surrounding setting and then automatically selects the most appropriate of the following six scene modes to achieve optimal results: Portrait, Landscape, Night Portrait, Night Landscape, Close-up, or Backlight.
Smart Portrait System
Nikon's newly developed Smart Portrait System provides a host of tools to ensure the highest quality portraits possible. Advanced Face-Priority Technology keeps track of up to 12 faces while Smile Timer instantly captures the moment when your subject smiles. The Blink Proof function shoots two pictures and automatically saves the one in which the subject's eyes remain open. When activated, Blink Warning alerts you that the subject may have blinked and prompts you to retake the photo. New Skin Softening and Red Eye Fix offer powerful image retouching options in-camera while Nikon Active D-lighting rescues dark or backlit images by improving brightness and detail where needed.
4-way Image Stabilization
Nikon's electronic VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization compensates for the effects of camera shake. Motion Detection automatically controls shutter speed and the ISO setting to compensate for subject movement as well as camera shake. ISO 3200 capability at any image size up to its maximum of 4000 x 3000 pixels allows faster shutter speeds when shooting in low light or capturing fast-moving subjects. Nikon's original BSS (Best Shot Selector) function automatically shoots a series of sequential frames and saves the one with the sharpest focus.
Quick Retouch
Quick Retouch adds professional polish to your photos by automatically creating a retouched copy with the best balance of contrast and saturation.

Nikon 26179B reviews

CoolPix S570 Digital Camera (Blue) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 76.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot of camera for a little money I am living as an expat in India and frequently travel around Asia and the Middle East. I typically shoot a Nikon D80 or F5 but, obviously, cannot cart those easily on trips. I need something light, affordable, and capable. The S570 fits that bill perfectly. It has a 5x optical zoom which doesn't make me yearn for my SLR like my prior pocket camera. It produces good pictures up to at least 11x14 size (as large as I have currently printed) and fits in my shirt pocket with room for my cell phone if needed. The only thing it could really use is a faster shutter as there is still a slight lag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features at a great price. My main camera is a digital slr with multiple lenses. I like to carry a small digital camera in my pocketbook for those occasions that take you by suprise. This canon is just the ticket. It is very compact, but with 12 megapixels and 5x optical zoom, it had everything I wanted. At first I was a little disappointed in the pictures, but after I read the manual, I adjusted my settings, the pictures are great. I have read bad reviews on it, but if you read the manual, you will see it has great potential. Battery life is really good since I carry it all the time, I expect it to be ready when I need it and so far it holds it charge very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Camera Very nice camera. I also own a Canon SX200is which I like, but the Canon is a little large to carry when I ride my motorcycle. The CoolPix S570 is smaller yet provides excellent features and quality. The exterior finish is beautiful and the 2.7 LCD is large enough. Because it is 2.7 for this size camera the controls on the back panel are perfect and very easy to use. Owners Manual is well written. Love the Scene selection mode and Smart Portrait System. 5x optical zoom is enough for this small point and shoot. Movies also great. ... Bought extra Nikon battery and 4GB ScanDisk Ultra SDHC card at the same time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the Money I bought this camera as a inexpensive backpack camera for hunting and fishing pics. Although the pictures are slightly over saturated, It has done well for that. If you want a point and shoot back up, then this is a nice camera for the price. Be sure to let it auto focus correctly, because it will not always focus on desired subject.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good! The Coolpix S570 is a nice little camera. Some issues, however: 1. Lack of viewfinder means you lack some precision in framing your picture. 2. When taking pictures of children from about 6 feet (or more), the focus rectangle does not always focus on their faces. This probably requires some learning on my part. 3. Battery good so far; no recharge required yet, but I have had the camera only for about a week. Had to discard my old (3 years) Nikon Coolpix because it was eating up batteries like crazy! So over all, decent pictures. Dim lighting not a problem. Have to practice with blink and focus features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recommend this camera. The camera's compact size and features allow my wife to have an excellent Digital Camera always available for her incidental photography.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Camera This camera is very easy to use. Open the box, charge the battery, read the quick start guide and start taking pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing little camera - Great video too! I keep this (quick & easy to operate) camera in my purse & use it for both stills & videos. I shoot everything at the maximum resolution (12 megapixels), & I'm almost always happy with the results. Sometimes, though, if I don't use the (-) exposure option for bright subjects, I get washed-out pics. Even the videos are a nice quality when viewed on a computer screen. The only drawback (as compared to the old point-and-shoot Film cameras) is that there is No Viewfinder. The screen is okay, but the ambient light often compromises the clarity/density. When Nikon (or someone else)comes out with a point & shoot digital camera with a viewfinder (along with a screen, if that's possible), I'll be the first to Buy!
