Apex APEX-BEANBAG-BK overview

  • 1Description

The Apex Bean Bag from LensCoat is an improvement on the traditional beanbag stabilizer in several ways. The U-shape design lets you drape the bag over a round or narrow surface such as a car door or a fence, greatly increasing the number of potential surfaces on which to mount your camera. The included metal plate slides into a pocket to accommodate a tripod head and can be removed to transform the Apex into a regular beanbag. Not only that, flip the beanbag over(flat side down) and rest any lens in the U-shaped portion to provide enhanced stabilization for any size lens.

The shell is constructed of tightly-woven heavy-duty nylon pack cloth and is sewn together with high strength polyester thread. The U-shaped portion is coated with a non-slip surface to ensure your photo equipment stays in place, while the straps allow you to fasten the beanbag to a rail, beam or any other surface.

For maximum convenience and versatility, the beanbag can be filled and emptied easily. The zipper, a common place for water to leak in, is protected by a weather-resistant flap.

Please note: the beanbag does not come filled

    Apex APEX-BEANBAG-BK reviews

Apex Bean Bag (Black) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Apex Beanbag in Kenai Fjord, Alaska IMHO,I found it to be an excellent product for supporting large telephoto lenses when tripods are not practical, like on a boat, stadium etc... Unlike the traditional beanbags, the Apex bean bag can accomodate a ballhead or gimbal head configuration, assisting the photographer with panning and tracking. The inverted U shape design and straps, allows the product to be drapped securely over a car door, fence, railing, bench. You can use any fillers to inflate the beanbag But seeds, rice, or beans as fillers can make this beanbag heavy. Personally, a combination of biodegradable packing peanuts and beans at the base legs permitted my beanbag to stay light, rigid and stable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convienent and versitle Saw this online and thought I'd try it out. After looking into fill materials to balance weight and stability i decided to use a combination of ground up corn cobs (pet bedding) mixed with fiber fill. This combo works very well, not too heavy 11lbs. Much lighter than rice or sunflower seeds, and just as stable. I don't empty it.I sprayed exterior with waterproofing as a preventative. Holds Wimberley head and 400mm lens with ease. I added velcro to one side to attach pouch with mounting plate. Keeps the pouch attached securely.
