Vello ET-65III overview

  • 1Description

The dedicated Vello ET-65III Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Canon's EF 85mm f/1.8 USM, EF 100mm f/2 USM, EF 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, EF 135mm f/2.8 SF, and EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM lenses. It is primarily used to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of it. A dedicated hood is crafted to perfectly suit the specific focal length of the lens it is designed for. Additionally, this hood features a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface to further prevent or limit lens flare. Also, since the end of the lens is extended, you get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The bayonet mount is designed to also work in the reversed position, allowing the hood to be placed backwards over the lens for a more compact storage solution.

Designed to accommodate the exact angle of view of the camera's lens
Minimizes flare and ghosting by blocking out stray light
Protects your lens from accidental impact and the elements

    Vello ET-65III reviews

ET-65III Dedicated Lens Hood is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 155.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't say enough about how good Vello equipment is .... I bought this Lens Hood for my Canon 85 1.8 ....I have to say that Vello makes very good products at very reasonable prices .... The hood works perfectly and once attached , it cannot be casually bumped off. If you have to have a Canon lens hood , by all means, go and buy it and pay 3 -4 times as much. I have bought a number of Vello products over the years including their flash extension cords and a verticle battery grip for my 6D and I have to say I couldn't be more satified. All are extreamly well made and have that top quality feel. Five stars because they don't allow more. Buy with confidence Vello makes great stuff !!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works properly, not Swiss precision Tis product is very classic in construction & operation, and not as nice as Canon's original but I didn't want to pay top dollar for plastic I barely use. So I grabbed this Vello, having other models from this maker that were satisfactory for other Canon lenses (and a screen protection for the 7D's screen that is actually splendid). This particular hood however is slightly bendable and is not 100% snug on the lens, there remains little holes on the sides. But once in place it works. This is the normal product, the Canon version would be luxury, so choose based on how much you want to spend. By definition this hood is less nice but I find it to work well. When I use it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheaply made, but does the job Hey, its a lens hood. What more could you ask for? It clips on, stays there, blocks the sun. As far as I am concerned it works like it is supposed to. One thing I DONT like about it is the way it clips on instead of screws on. The clips are awkward and take a couple tries to get it centered on the lens. Then once on, its free to wiggle and spin, which is annoying because it feels like something is broken.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't buy Canon hoods I buy canon cameras and lenses, and was a bit leary about buying this hood. But Canon should supply hoods with its lenses, so I bought the Pearstone out of spite. I had read reviews about the Canon ET-65III that stated that the hood didn't feel secure on the lens. It reportedly wobbled and seemed like it would fall off. The Pearstone is solid. It fits securely. I will never again purchase a Canon hood.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit Perfect fit for my Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM. I actually bought this one and the one that fits the 50mm f/1.4 and are very happy with both. I always purchase a lens hood with every lens. Vello has always served me well in hoods and other accessories. The hood snaps on easy and stays put. You don't have to worry about it popping of in the middle of a shoot. It's there until you remove it. It blocks the unwanted sun flares when shooting in the sun. I also use hoods as a protection from bumps and scratches to my lens. The Vello does all this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice lens hood I bought this lens hood for my Canon 85mm 1.8. It's nice, light and does what it's designed for. It doesn't screw into the front element of the lens but rather has clips that you squeeze together and place on the lens then release. Can spin around and around the lens but doesn't fall off without squeezing the clips. Would definitely recommend it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It works, sorta. I bought this lens hood to use with a new 85 mm 1.8 lens. It certainly works and, when placed on the lens for shooting, seems secure. My main complaint, and it is a big one, is that it won't mount backwards for storage, like every other lens hood I have. It is always falling off and getting lost in my bag.
