The Sescom DSLR-AGCY AGC-Disable Y-Splitter Cable is designed specifically for use with the Canon 7D and Canon T2i DSLR cameras. More than just a Y cable, the DSLR-AGCY is used to "trick" the 7D and T2i into continuously disabling its AGC (Audio Gain Control) function and allow for an uninterrupted microphone signal. The split end of the cable features a 3.5mm mini male connection, used to send a tone (downloaded from Sescom's website) from an iPod or other audio playback device. The 3.5mm mini female end is used to connect a microphone.

DSLR-AGCY AGC-Disable Y-Splitter Cable is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as easy to use as you might think I have used this cable around 10 times so far and it has only worked about half the time. I would set it up, make sure it worked then go to the field for a shoot. After a couple shots I would check to make sure I was getting audio and I wouldn't be. I would check everything several times, its not a complicated set up and I couldn't figure out why it only works half the time. Many times I just plug the mic straight to the camera and fix any hiss with audio filters in post. The couple of times it did work, it worked perfectly but the lack of consistency is extremely annoying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Like a Charm This is a great alternative to using the cameras external microphone versus using a separate recording device. In order to use properly, you need the following: * External microphone * MP3 player with 19 kHz tone (1-hour) You should have a program to do a channel fill, I use Adobe CS5 Premier Pro. Highly recommend you Google or YouTube in order to kill the AGC. Great solution, hope MagicLantern figures out how to hack the 7D eventually. Will make editing much faster and easier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect This cable is a must for those who own a Canon 7D or a Canon T2i. It allows you to use an external microphone with your camera. Also, without the cable, the audio is unbearable.Extra tems you will need:1. 19kHz tone (one hour long), located at bottom of post from Learningdslrvideo.com. Follow link here: http://www.learningdslrvideo.com/adapter-disable-canon-dslr-agc-rode-videomic/Mp3 player, doesn't need to be an iPod, although that is what I use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does exactly as advertised My company decided to try this splitter in attempts to get better raw audio from the Canon 7d. Although this is no substitute for a professional external audio recorder or a video camera with high quality audio capabilities, it will allow you to capture a much better scratch track or backup audio track. This cable is a must have for anyone looking to increase the 7d's audio capabilities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent way to adjust AGC Durable cables with gold plated ends. Labeled for easy installation and use. I highly recommend the setup to bring the Canon T2i recoding to a appropriate level which is then easily used in Final Cut.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! This is great! This is probably the cheapest way to improve the sound quality of your DSLR. The cable is kind of awkward to use, I have to loop it around my rode videomic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked as described The splitter worked to disable the AGC. Just kind of a hassle to plug an mp3 player into your camera every time you want to record something.
