The ikan Elements Shoulder Mount Deluxe rig is a sturdy, modular support system for a DSLR camera. It puts two handgrips in front of you and an adjustable, clamp-style shoulder pad on your shoulder, with the camera at a comfortable distance from your face. All major parts are aluminum with a powder-coated black finish.
The camera attaches to a cheese plate, which sits on two adapters for the 18" standard 15mm rods. Those rods attach in the front (via right-angle adapters and a third, 12" rod) to dual rod adapters that each host dense foam handgrips. These enable precise control over the rig. At the rear of the Shoulder Mount Basic is where the rig meets your shoulder, via several hardware pieces and a series of three pads that form an adjustable clamp-style shoulder pad. The two points of adjustment ensure that the fabric-covered foam pads grip securely your shoulder.
Like all ikan Elements rigs, the Shoulder Mount Deluxe is eminently configurable. Many elements tighten, adjust, and remove easily through the use of thumbscrews. All ikan Elements hardware is based on industry-standard connections (15mm rods and 1/4"-20 and 3/8" screws, primarily), so it's a simple matter of adding a part or three if you want to expand your rig.
The Shoulder Mount Deluxe already has your DSLR camera riding rails, so without too much extra investment you could add elements such as a follow focus or a matte box for your lens. Articulating arms for lights and monitors will find natural perches at various points on the rig. Mount additional cheese plates, a tripod mount, a wireless audio receiver, a battery plate – the possibilities are nearly unlimited.
