The Solo Tactical R/T 8x36 Monocular from Vortex offers a wide 393 foot field of view that is bright, crisp, and clear. Designed as a take-along-everywhere optic, the Solo Tactical R/T 8x36 is compact and easy-to-handle.

This monocular comes with an R/T ranging reticle for precise target range estimation. It features mrad (milliradian)-based subtensions and includes a secondary quick-ranging system with silhouettes. These angular measurements allow the user to calculate ranges when comparing the reticle to objects of known dimension. The reticle focus ensures a sharp reticle image at all distances.

The Solo's optical system features a premium roof prism and fully multicoated lenses. The rugged housing is waterproof, fogproof, and covered with a protective rubber armoring. A utility clip allows the monocular to be attached to a belt, strap, or webbing with ease.

Top focus wheel for focusing the reticle and a bottom focus wheel for focusing the image
Integral carry clip: attaches securely to any belt, strap or webbing
Rubber Armoring: provides a secure no-slip grip, durable external protection
Adjustable flared eyecup: twist-up style for comfortable viewing with/without eye/sunglasses
Waterproof/fogproof: housing is nitrogen filled/o-ring sealed for all-weather performance
Fully multicoated: anti-reflective coatings on all air-to-glass surfaces enhance light transmission
Ranging Reticle: ranging reticle scaled with hashmarks and crosshairs using mrad based subtension lines for ranging, holdover, and windage corrections. Quick-ranging silhouettes on the reticle

Solo Tactical R/T 8x36 Monocular is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monocular - clear, sharp optics - focus-able reticle - reticle does not get in the way of viewing subject - great way to practice ranging with mil-ranging. Cheaper than a range finder and keeps the brain sharp My only CON is the case. Although sharp looking the belt snap is useless and continually popped off with the risk of dropping the monocular. It's also not padded and offers no drop/bump protection. Called Vortex and they are sending me another type of case. Not sure yet if this will be acceptable or not? If not I'll find a flashlight belt case for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this again! Here is why... The moment I took the Vortex out of the box it exudes quality. From its rugged construction to is bright and clear optics, this monocular by Vortex rocks. I love the tactical reticle, it helps to determine distance of object size and distance. It does not fog up which is a problem here in the Pacific Northwest for many optics. The only complaint, which is minor, the monocular does not fit in the case tightly. I added my own Velcro which solved this problem! I have purchased from B & H Video and highly recommend them as your source for optics, cameras, electronics and other merchandise. I have purchased from B & H many times and will continue to do so. Always ships on time every time! Plus, love the prices and customer service - second to none!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for the range I wanted something for verifying my targets on the range. It is perfect for 15 and 25 yards. I see the holes for 357mag perfectly. Instant feedback. Optics are crystal clear. Very fast acquisition. With this I can also practice range estimation for my rifle scope: Same reticule in MRAD. I will definitely buy other optics by Vortex

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice, but... The monocular is wonderful. Well made, nice reticle, good size, good value. The big negative is the included case. The monocular will fall out of it the way it's designed. The case is well made but open at the bottom and loose fitting at the top. Better suited for a 12 oz beer can or even a bottle of your favorite brew (both fit snuggly and won't fall out). For an optic that won't accommodate a lens cap (on either end) a form fitting case that will keep out the elements and keep your optics in would be a better accessory.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Clarity Independent focus for Reticle & Lens are easy to use- set & forget.Focus rings are stiff and not easily knocked out of focus.Reticle image is very precise / clean. As noted by others, the pouch is not the best.It would be better if it was fully sealed - to protect the lenses better. On the other hand, the open design might allow debris to naturally fall away. I will try to modify the belt clip, to fix onto a small gorilla pod. This will steady it in the field for longer range viewing, & allow better readings of the reticle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clear crisp Optics. I cannot say enough about the quality of the optics. The field of view and clarity are perfect. I use this on the range, in the field and even on the golf course. Make a proper range card using the MRAD scale and with the clarity of this scope, you'll be able to dial it in within a yard. I would highly recommend this scope to anyone looking for an analog rangefinder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable 24/7 So about a month ago a bud and I were shooting over a small valley. We had gongs set up over different locations. Any ways my range finder wasn’t giving me the range, so I thought this would be a great time to break out the ST R/T 8x36. Man is it handy, by knowing the target size and looking through the monocular I could get a good idea how far away the targets were. Vortex, you will always be at the top of my list for when I need new gear!!!!
