The Viper HD 20-60x80 Spotting Scope from Vortex has proprietary XR anti-reflective coatings and HD (High Density) extra-low dispersion glass for increased resolution and color fidelity. Fully multicoated on all air-to-glass lens surfaces, the light transmission is increased for greater brightness. The Porro prism construction offers excellent image quality and performance in a traditional design. Meeting challenging conditions with confidence is accomplished by the argon gas purging which ensures fogproof and waterproof performance of this all-weather scope. The waterproof optics are sealed with o-rings to prevent moisture, dust, and debris from getting inside the spotting scope. ArmorTek ultra-hard, scratch-resistant coating protects exterior lenses from scratches, oil and dirt. Complete with a zoom eyepiece, built-in sunshade, rotating tripod mount, and case, this is a spotting scope to own.

The versatile magnification of the Viper spotting scope allows viewing at a wide field-of-view at lower power, then zooming in on distant details. The magnification of the spotting scope is changed by simply turning the magnification adjustment ring. An angled body design allows an overall lower mounting height which maximizes stability in windy conditions, offers greater comfort when glassing for extended periods, and permits the use of a smaller, lighter tripod. A twist up and down eyecup provides comfortable viewing with or without eyeglasses or sunglasses so that the full field of view can be observed. Twist the eyecup down when viewing with eyeglasses or sunglasses and twist up when viewing without glasses.

The dual focus feature allows for maximum focusing precision with both coarse and fine focus adjustments. After setting the magnification, you can adjust the fine focus. This does more than allow you to see critical details, it also ensures fatigue-free viewing. When you change the magnification, some refocusing is usually required. The coarse and fine adjustments is handled with just the tip of a finger: slowly turn the coarse focus dial until the subject is nearly in focus and then turn the fine focus dial to pick out the details.

The sunshade reduces glare and shields the objective lens from rain and snow. Extend this fitted shade to effectively block out disturbing stray light. The tripod foot attaches to any tripod or car window mount that uses 1/4 x 20 screw threads. There is a rotating tripod ring that allows rotation of the eyepiece to a sideways position which is very useful for viewing through an angled spotting scope body on a car window mount. Simply secure the tripod mount foot on a quick-release plate or mounting plate of the tripod head. The tripod mounting collar of the Viper allows you to rotate the spotting scope body for greater viewing flexibility. Loosen the mounting collar by turning the thumbscrew to the left. Then rotate the spotting scope body to a comfortable viewing angle. Keep the scope body in your preferred viewing position by securing the mounting collar with a turn of the thumbscrew to the right.

A built-in Picatinny rail can be used to easily attach red dot type sights.

Viper HD 20-60x80 Angled Spotting Scope is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! This is my first spotting scope, I am using it mainly to view wildlife. Before I purchased this, a friend came by with his high-end ($$) scope for me to try for a few days. This Viper is not as expensive but fit my budget. I was very pleased to find that at least I could not tell the difference between the quality of the Viper and the much more expensive scope I had tried out. Maybe the Viper lets in a little less light and the focus is a little harder to get right but all in all I am VERY pleased. I am sure I will get years of enjoyment from this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great scope, great price i use this scope for both target shooting and birding, and could'nt ask for more from a scope. had a chance to compare this scope side by side with most all high end scopes, i can say some were just as good but to my eyes none were better. most others were at least twice the price. for the price of this scope nothing compares to it. you can't get a better warranty at any price. scope is alittle heavy, outside of that you can't go wrong buyong this scope

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A SUPPER STAR of the HD Spotting Scopes My Vortex Viper HD is used to spot long range targets for shooting sports, and birding. In both cases, the Viper is a pleasure to use. Controls are smooth and accurate. Opics are as clear as anyone could hope for. The biggest advantages of the Viper HD are: 1) a real value for the cost. AND 2) the viper allows you to use for Digital Camera Adapting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Am very happy so far My primary use is for birding. I have only used my scope a few times so far so I am still getting used to it. As far as viewing I just love it, This is the first scope that I have actually owned but have been looking through many scopes for years. I would put this up against any other more expensive ones. The fact that it came with an excellent tripod is a real plus. B&H offered a better price also. Could not beat this for me. The only down side so far is that I have trouble keeping the scope attached tightly to the tripod. This still may be user error but has been difficult for me to get used to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT!! I use this scope for shooting at the range and for spotting game. I have had this for a year now and have injoyed it. I watched my friend at 1000 yards stok and harvest his deer. The HD really helps in the first little light and then at dusk. I would have no problem with buying another one. My main use is hunting in the back country, so my only con is the wight, but for the sharpness in the glass and price I can over look that with ease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch, Everyone was impressed I use the Vortex Viper HD80 for viewing ducks on Presqu'ile Bay. We just had our annual Waterfowl Weekend at Presqu'ile Provincial Park on March 15th and 16th. Saturday was good but most of the ducks were a long way away because of the ice coverage. I had my scope set up with the Friends of Presqu'ile volunteers. Everyone that looked through my scope commented on how good it was. The only scope that was better was the Swarovski which was much brighter. I find it has edge to edge clarity. Glasses wearers liked it, I have contacts and see well too. A guy who is not colour blind like I am noted there was no purple fringing. Even though it is not as bright as the Swaro I can see everything that the Swaro could see and everything can be focused. The fine focus knob works great. The built in quick mount fits my Monfrotto tripod. The packaging is poor, but lucky B&H packed it well with lots of air bags and it arrived perfect. Shipping to Canada was fast even though it sat in my local depot 4 days extra. The padded case is hard to get on and I don't think it fits well with bulges and is buckeled at openings that let rain and snow in. The padded case ends are useless, being difficult to use. You can not spin the scope sideways with the cover on and the sunshade is really hard to pull out. The rubber caps fit well, but I wish the eye cap could fit further down the eye piece because the way it is attached to the eye cup every time you zoom and change the cup position it flops around in the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy - read small calibre hits on splatter targets at 300 yards - easy to use, bright clear image (up to about x45 - x50 ish) - image darkens and a little difficult to work with at x60 (still usable) Tripod in BH bundle is very good - stable, smooth panning (important at higher magnifications) - unexpected for a freebe

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent For the price you pay you really can't beat it. Great scope to save you from spending thousands more. I use it for birding (lakewatching, shorebirds) and couldn't be more please even though I used both Swarovski and Zeiss scopes before.
