The Viper HD 15-45x65 Straight Spotting Scope from Vortex has proprietary XR anti-reflective coatings and HD (High Density) extra-low dispersion glass for increased resolution and color fidelity. Fully multicoated on all air-to-glass lens surfaces, the light transmission is increased for greater brightness. The Porro prism construction offers excellent image quality and performance in a traditional design. Meeting challenging conditions with confidence is accomplished by the argon gas purging which ensures fogproof and waterproof performance of this all-weather scope. The waterproof optics are sealed with o-rings to prevent moisture, dust, and debris from getting inside the spotting scope. ArmorTek ultra-hard, scratch-resistant coating protects exterior lenses from scratches, oil and dirt. Complete with a zoom eyepiece, built-in sunshade, rotating tripod mount, and case, this is a spotting scope to own.

The versatile magnification of the Viper spotting scope allows viewing at a wide field-of-view at lower power, then zooming in on distant details. The magnification of the spotting scope is changed by simply turning the magnification adjustment ring. This scope comes with a straight body design allowing faster target acquisition for some users. A twist up and down eyecup provides comfortable viewing with or without eyeglasses or sunglasses so that the full field of view can be observed. Twist the eyecup down when viewing with eyeglasses or sunglasses and twist up when viewing without glasses.

The dual focus feature allows for maximum focusing precision with both coarse and fine focus adjustments. After setting the magnification, you can adjust the fine focus. This does more than allow you to see critical details, it also ensures fatigue-free viewing. When you change the magnification, some refocusing is usually required. The coarse and fine adjustments is handled with just the tip of a finger: slowly turn the coarse focus dial until the subject is nearly in focus and then turn the fine focus dial to pick out the details.

The sunshade reduces glare and shields the objective lens from rain and snow. Extend this fitted shade to effectively block out disturbing stray light. The tripod foot attaches to any tripod or car window mount that uses 1/4 x 20 screw threads. There is a rotating tripod ring that allows rotation of the eyepiece to a sideways position. Simply secure the tripod mount foot on a quick-release plate or mounting plate of the tripod head. The tripod mounting collar of the Viper allows you to rotate the spotting scope body for greater viewing flexibility. Loosen the mounting collar by turning the thumbscrew to the left. Then rotate the spotting scope body to a comfortable viewing angle. Keep the scope body in your preferred viewing position by securing the mounting collar with a turn of the thumbscrew to the right.

A built-in Picatinny rail can be used to easily attach red dot type sights.

Viper HD 15-45x65 Straight Spotting Scope is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scope is Dope I am a professional wildlife biologist, post-secondary educator in applied fish and wildlife biology, avid birder/wildlife photographer, and hunter, so, needless to say, my use of this tool are diverse. I have used Vortex Viper binoculars for >8 years for work and play and have never been disappointed. I have compared my Vipers to colleagues' Razor models and the difference - in low light, at a distance, whatever - are negligible in my opinion, especially in light of the price point. In addition to the amazing optics, the Vortex VIP warranty is unparalleled. No questions, no receipts, just pure FREE warranty service, FOREVER. Not surprisingly, I immediately turned to the Vortex Viper line for my latest spotting scope needs. I've had the scope out for birding and target shooting and it has not disappointed. Very clear with minimal clarity issues out at the 45x range. No issues in dim lighting so far. The macro and micro scale focus knobs are so convenient. You can easily switch from one to the other without having to take your eye off the target. There only a few relatively minor negatives that I will mention. 1) While the included neoprene body sock is an excellent accessory, it causes some issue around the focus knobs (interferes with rotation) and when trying to use the sun shade. 2) The front lens cover is not tethered (perhaps for use with the neoprene body sock?) and falls off very easily (loose fitting).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bright but not used to weight The scope is primarily used for birding. It replaces a 60mm scope that is 27-28 years old! The Viper is really bright and is GREAT at zoom! The zoomed subject really holds the focus well without distortion. We stared at a Calico Pennant (dragonfly) laying eggs at least 50 yards away! Great details on birds that were 50-100 yards out on the lake, even when zoomed in on their heads!! My old Cabelas scope was much smaller and lighter, tho. All scopes I considered were in the weight range of this Viper. This is going to be a big improvement over my old scope!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Buy on a Vortex scope on the market The Vortex 15-45x65 is outstanding and the package price that included the Vortex tri-pod and shoulder stock was the reason I bought from B&H. I was even more surprised to discover a cover for the scope came with it as well. Now I plan to use the $50 gift card to purchase a hard carrying case.I hunted with guides who had Swarovski and Vortex scopes and the difference between them was so small as to be imperceptible to my eyes. I am thrilled and have shared this with my hunting group as well. Thanks B&H!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good spottng scope for the price. Recommended. I recently used this spotting scope on an antelope hunt in Southern Alberta and it met my expectations. It saves a lot of steps when you can take a close up look at an animal without needing to hike closer. Putting on the neoprene cover was a chore until I checked out the instructional video on the Vortex site. A simple written instruction with the scope would save some frustration. It's too bad Vortex doesn't include a hard case with the scope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Spotting scope I ever used! The eye relief (18mm), clarity of view, unconditional lifetime warranty where the main selling points of this scope for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Field review of Viper HD 15-45x65mm Spotting Scope Overall a good value product for the cost. Works well out to about 600m, even in dense brush. Optics are reasonably clear at higher magnifications. In retrospect I should have purchased a 80mm for better light transmission. Not a Nightforce or Swarovski, but a solid alternative at an economy price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Viper HD 15-45x65 Straight Spotting Scope I have used the scope long enough to realize it is just ok and really not much better than many scope that are way cheaper!!!!!
