Tenba 638-326 overview

  • 1Description

The Tenba Roadie II Compact Photo/Laptop Case (Black) is designed to carry and protect a medium sized professional DSLR camera, HD video camcorder or medium format camera system. It also holds a laptop sleeve containing a computer with a screen up to 15” plus documents and accessories. Large D-SLR camera bodies with mid-range zoom lenses can be stored standing up; super telephoto lenses will fit with their hood and tripod collar in place. The case meets international airline carry-on standards and it even fits under many full-size airline seats. However, if one packs the case to the max, it may expand a bit beyond its 9" depth. It has a front briefcase compartment that holds cables, hard drives, documents, pens, keys and other accessories. The photo section features fully adjustable/removable, padded dividers, and can be configured to accommodate a DSLR with mounted lens up to 300mm f/2.8.

The Compact Roadie II has top access to the computer sleeve that can help speed through airport security. The quick-connect tripod carrying system will hold virtually any size tripod or light stand tight to the case for travel. A quick release tripod collar stows away in the rear pocket when not in use. There is an exterior front pocket that holds an included 4-pocket media wallet that fits either CF or SD cards, airline tickets, passport or other items. It has large, laminated mesh interior storage pockets for cables, filters, tools and other accessories. A rear pocket includes a steel-braided security cable that can be fed through the built-in, welded steel D-ring; wrapped around anything solid and stationary on location; and secured with an optional padlock.

The Photo/Laptop case is made from weatherproof ballistic nylon exterior, with an EVA molded interior and a heavy-duty tricot interior. The case is transported by a padded, custom-sewn, massively reinforced handle, heavy-duty, five-section retractable tow handle and heavy-duty, ball bearing wheels.

Roadie II Compact Rolling Photo/Laptop Case is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-Designed and Well-Made I recently bought and used this bag for a transtlantic trip. It is exactly the kind of bag I have been looking for for a long time. Designed with input from well-known National Geographic photographer Ira Block, the Roadie II has plenty of storage space with foam dividers. My Leica kit for a trip like this is two bodies and 5 or 6 lenses, small flash, and a variety of filters, SD cards, etc. plus a Macbook Air, along with chargers, cords etc. I had no trouble getting it all with room to spare. But the case itself is small enough to carry-on (a requirement for me) and easily stow overhead. I think this bag is a home run for Tenba. The larger bags would be more suitable for SLR gear. I would highly recommend this bag

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tips Over Easily I was excited by the prospect of using a Tenba rolling case for my Canon gear. After using the Tenba aircases for my Profoto lighting equipment, I thought that quality would carry over to the Roadie II. I was wrong. Firstly, the case cannot comfortably fit a Canon 5D MkII w/ the vertical battery grip flush with the case closed. Instead the viewfinder prism awkwardly sticks out, leaving a hazardous situation for both SLR and laptop if the case should fall onto its back. My second issue is the frequency in which the rolling case tips over while traveling. I took it for one day on my commute to my studio and back. The case must have flipped over about 8 times on sidewalk cracks, breaks in the pavement, the wheel chair accessible lip on street corners, and turning corners on sidewalks. Aside from these issues, the bag is well-made, but a bit too small for my kit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice I've used it a few times to transport equipment to jobs. It seems well made, it packs well and is stable walking on sidewalks that aren't always smooth. It also has a good amount of storage space. But, having to carry it when going up & down stairs isn't so great. I wish it were lighter. I wouldn't mind if it opened with the front coming down rather than opening sideways, but I figured out ways to get equipment out without having to lie it flat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointing I purchased this roller from B&H last week, and should have returned it straight away. But after one use it was a waste. The bag's proportions are awful. I needed as a mobile office and camera bag. I use the Sony a series, so my kit is pretty small. I needed space for a tablet and laptop. And I carry a Mefoto tripod. The laptop space is poor. There isn't space for the tablet once the office materials are in. IT DOESN'T ACCOMMODATE the MEFOTO tripod. Basically, a wasted $ dollars. Avoid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Product I use it when I travel by plane. I can fit my camera, a few lenses and a flash. Very happy with the purchase. It's a quality product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from external dimension is wrong I bought this because it says external dimension is 9 high which will fit underneath airline seat but I was wrong..the external dimension without anything inside is 10 high..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but noisy wheels... Great rolling camera bag, made well, fits a lot of gear but the wheels are a bit noisy and hard on the ground.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again. I really like this bag. It holds everything I need to do my job, and fits perfectly under the seat in front of me on smaller regional jets. This is vital, because I keep my bag with me at all times, for obvious reasons. Even American Airlines allows this bag on board regional aircraft. This eliminates the photographer's nightmare: turning your bag over to careless baggage handlers. The bag is built like a tank, and the user-replaceable wheels are quiet, even on tile concourse floors. The lift handles and zippers are strong, and I can fit my laptop and tablet in the same pocket, no problem. Lots of transparent plastic zippered pockets for data cards, passport, etc. No frantic hunting through pockets trying to find stuff. The telescoping pull handle seems a bit unsturdy, unlike the one on my old Tamrac roller. We'll see how well it holds up. My tripod extends to 6-ft., and is a little too big for the tripod carrying feature. I also wish the bag had side cords to hold the main compartment lid open at 90-degrees. However, all things considered, this roller is well worth the price and I'm glad I bought it.
