Manfrotto 057 overview

  • 1Description

This 057 Magnesium Ball Head from Manfrotto features an integrated RC4 quick release cam lock and a 410PL Quick Release Plate. Compatible quick release plates can removed from the head by pulling the cam lock's spring-loaded lever, which also allows the plate to be instantly reattached.

The 057 Magnesium Ball Head with 410PL Quick Release Plate has a load capacity of 33.1 lb and can be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. By loosening the 057's primary locking knob, its ball-and-socket joint can be quickly swiveled, angled, fully tilted, or returned to its upright position. Toward the ball head's base is a secondary locking knob that controls the ability to rotate the head 360°. An additional knob opposite the secondary locking knob can be rotated to apply tension control to the ball-and-socket joint's movements. Finally, a two-position slide-switch at the base of the ball-and-socket joint allows it to be tilted down to either a 90° or a 103° angle before it is locked into place using the primary locking knob. The ability to tilt the ball-and-socket joint down to angle beyond 90° can be used to quickly level a camera placed on this 057 Magnesium Ball Head without having to adjust the tripod the ball head is connected to.

Cameras or accessories that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 or 3/16"-20 mount can be connected to the 410PL Quick Release Plate, which measures 2.5 x 3.3 x 0.5" and has a rubberized, non-slip surface.

    Manfrotto 057 reviews

057 Magnesium Ball Head with 410PL Quick Release Plate is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Not a complaint but an observation: Don't be fooled by the photo in the description. Even after reading the specs, this thing turned out to be pretty big and heavy than what I imagined. Other than that it's performed very nicely. I use this ball head for double duty: 1. It's the head I use on top of my slider when doing video. I've standardized on the RC4 release plate which is the fastest that I've used. 2. It's the head I use on my tripod when taking photos. Solid, well built, and impressive! I dealt with dinky ball heads before but this one inspires confidence to say the least.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very high quality ball head I was searching for an upgrade of my ball head and I found this. I wanted something strong but at the same time, not as heavy.First I though this ball head would be kind of light and compact, and I was not expecting good quality out of it, although it is a manfrotto (the photos of the product make it look smaller than what it really is).But then it arrived and wow. Its kind of big and strong actually. Im really impressed with it. Really stable and the quality of the materials are much better than what I tough.I really recommend this for those who are searching for a good ball head at a lower price range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome, awesome, awesome! I use this tripod head primarily for nature and low light/night photography This tripod head is ROCK SOLID!It is silky smooth... but completely and totally secure when the ball is tightened. I love this product! It is a bit heavy but I don't care... I'll gladly trade a little extra weight for a rock solid platform for my DSLR.I HIGHLY recommend this product!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big is good I use this ball head with my 1Dx. While it's a little bit of overkill in terms of the weight applied, I use this exclusively outdoors on civil construction sites with numerous heavy excavators and trucks running around so I wanted something with a bit of extra bulk that could take the knocks that comes with working in this kind of environment. Despite all the dust and vibrations the head provides perfect stability for my photography and continues to function perfectly in substantially adverse conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This ballhead works! Put this ball head on my old Manfrotto tripod because of the ability to hold 33 lbs. With my 180 - 600mm lens it is rock stable! So far, I love this ball head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great head for heavy gear Good ball head for heavy gear and larger lens's. Movement is precise and accurate and it stays where you put it. The amount of friction adjustment allows for very granular control to be set for any load and both the pan and ball movements are silky smooth. It is a heavy head and may not be the best choice for anyone trying to pack light, but the weight and materials give the impression of a well designed and manufactured quality product. The RC4 QC plate is large compared to some other QC plates but feels at home on larger pro end bodies, particularly with a vertical grip attached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first ball head experience.. One thing common to all magazine and advertising photography is that images have to be sharp, and more and more clients want you in and out quickly. This ball head sets the camera as quickly as can be done. It is a real nice experience using this head.
