    Manfrotto 054 Reviews

054 Magnesium Ball Head with Q5 Quick Release is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from NIce and sturdy on a tripod to take 90 degree pics. It DOES NOT come with a center bolt to mount it, so if you do not already have a mounting bolt, you will be unable to mount it anywhere. I had to go to Home Depot to find a mounting bolt, but not sure if it is exactely the right size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Manfrotto 054 Ball Head a Winner I purchased this Manfrotto ball head to go with a set of Manfrotto carbon fiber legs. What a great combo. Can't wait to use it for many applications including macro work and other fun stuff such as nature photography and portrait work. As others have said, you get what you pay for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice ball head I really like this ball head for both the size and quality. I have it mounted to a Manfrotto 190xpro4 tripod. It's very sturdy but compact enough to carry on a backpack without being ridiculously heavy. The Q5 plate feels much more secure to me than the Q2 that I've had on other tripod heads, especially with a large lens or when at a 90 degree angle. The only reason that I didn't give it a 5 star is due to the set screw that secures the plate to the head. It's not really that difficult to operate but every time I use it I think that there must be a better placement for it. Otherwise, I am very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Endless possiblities This ball head accompanies my Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod giving me endless possibilities for the perfect shot every time. The ball bubble levels are extremely helpful in situations where the ground is uneven, and the overall construction is superb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from That is the tripod heat that I want!! This tripod head can hold my Nikon D750 with 70-200 lens without slip. Now I can take a photo of moon without worry it will clasp compare to my old tripod head. A little bit heavy but not the big deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money Excellent build quality and ease of use. I bought this with 055XPro Alum tripod. I'm a hobbyist and take really good care of my equipment where lasting 15+ years is not uncommon, this will replace a 14 year old head that went on ski, climbing, and motorcycle trips over the years. Same goes for this head with the tripod some may think this is too heavy for some of the trips but it is lighter than my old one. Definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use it with slider The head is solid. I use it on a slider for a BMCC with case (heavy) and it doesn't budge. I wouldn't use it to make movements with it though, even it is has a sticky horizontal adjusment... It won't be smooth. Just a note, the head is heavy!

is it possible install Acra-Swiss release system on top of this ball head?
    Asked by: Anonymous
No, the head has a quick release as a permanent part and you cannot add another quick release to another without making the connection unstable compared to using one.
