Rated 5 out of 5 by from What's Your Spine Worth? Once your back's gone, there is no way back. Like much of K&M's gear, this seems expensive until you actually use it, ...in my case for long hours spent at the mixing console in various venues. Whether using the foot-pegs at maximum (nearly on your feet) height, or set lower with your feet on the floor, this stool's sculptured saddle discourages the dreaded slump that's so often the precursor to pain. At the end of a long day, a quick flip-flop flat and it's ready to go. Whether performer or technician, if you need endurance on the road, I reckon that this is the spine-saver you've been seeking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expensive but excellent quality! I'm a photographer and use this stool for my models. It has a good amount of weight to it but is very well built. It is very good quality and the seat is very comfortable. I found the seat adjustment lever to be a little too close to the seat which makes it a little tricky to tighten completely. Because of this, if the seat is not tightened completely, it will tilt forward while a model is sitting on it and they feel like they are falling forward. Not a big deal if you make sure you secure the seat completely. Overall, this stool is expensive but worth the investment for excellent built quality and comfort. I'm only giving this stool 4 stars due to price, weight, and the seat adjustment lever being a bit too close to the seat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and Reliable Equipment This is a very sturdy stool, easy to assemble and it folds relatively flat very easily. It is also very easy to adjust seat incline and height. There is an optional backrest from K&M that you can order if you find it necessary. I did not. I have knee issues and standing for long sets is problematic. With this adjustable height stool I can be nearly at eye level with my mates and still be comfortably seated. K&M makes sturdy and reliable equipment and in my opinion it is worth a little more to avoid the junk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Chair I film theater and corporate events that the camera needs to be up high enough to see over people heads. This chair is portable and tall enough to reach the tripod pan handle. It also can fit into tight spots like in between theater rows. This is one of the few adjustable stools on the market that would work for event videography. Only cons are it's expensive and the seat material could easily be cut during transportation. They sell a case but its also expensive and a bit cumbersome. I'm going to build my own seat cover. Another con is the foot rest isn't easily adjustable. It's attached with to bolts and you need a wrench to change it's height. Should be just peg or at least tool less wing nuts. It's not a problem for me because I don't change it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2016 QC issues at K&M I've used this stool (and many other K&M products) since 2011 and I loved it before. It is really the only heavy-duty tall stool with a back that I've found suitable for professional use. However, in 2016 I ordered a new one and was very unhappy to find quality control issues. I returned the first one (B&H was completely professional and helpful about this) but to my frustration the second one had the same problem. Specifically: The two leg pieces on both stools were visibly out of alignment, so that the stools wobbled on a level floor. I decided not to go for a third attempt and kept the second wobbly stool. There is an adjustable foot that can be used to level the stool on uneven surfaces, but obviously this should not be needed on a flat floor. I use these stools every day and am completely dependent on them -- I have had two back operations, and I absolutely need the support (using the optional backrest, which I augment with a Fellowes cushion since the backrest isn't quite far forward enough for my lumbar requirements). So: The design is good, and the stool was great for me in the past. It is sturdy. I don't know if these two products were a fluke, where nobody noticed that a few items were slightly misassembled; or if this shows a recent lack of attention to detail at K&M. Time will tell.
