Vello LHS-62II overview

  • 1Description

The Vello 62mm Snap-on Tulip Lens Hood (Version II) is designed to fit lenses with a 62mm filter thread. The hood is designed for use with internal focus type zoom lenses. When used with "full frame" sensor cameras, the starting focal length should be above 20mm. With "APS-C" sensor cameras, the starting focal length should be above 15mm. With wider lenses, especially on full frame cameras, some slight vignetting might occur.

The "petal" shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage with the minimum amount of weight and hood area. In addition, the design of this hood allows it to be reversed and stored on the lens, when not in use. It is also designed to accept lens caps.

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens, by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

    Vello LHS-62II reviews

62mm Snap-on Tulip Lens Hood (Version II) is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tulip Lens hjood for Lumix GH2 My purchase at B & H was an amazing experience. Coming from Australia and having made an online purchase some years ago, I wanted to visit the store simply to see the range of equipment. When I visited, I was astounded at the number of people in the store (both customers and staff) and also the level of automation from point of sale to payment and pick up of my goods. My purchase experience was very smooth and easy. Whilst in the store I engaged a couple of other staff on a variety of professional subjects and although I received varying amounts of information I was commendably impressed with the levels of politeness and helpfulness of each staff member. Well done and thanks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It doesn't work with the Nikon 20mm ais This is a very well made lens hood but it vignettes like crazy on the Nikon 20 mm Ais manual lens because of the design. It is suggested kit when you buy the lens from B&H but it is unusable because of the serious vignetting problem. Don't buy it for this lens.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Right for Sony 16-80mm I ordered to replace the lens shade for my Sony 16-80mm Zeiss lens. Unfortunately it is not suitable. It extends into the image area when the lens is set to the shorter focal lengths. Also, it does not snap on like the original shade, but clips onto the filter threads and can easily rotate into the wrong position so that it ends up in the image at even longer focal length settings.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works with reservations It fits the lens for which it was intended; however, it was somewhat difficult to attach to the lens. It will not reverse on the lens for storage and the front lens cap does not fit when the hood is attached. It is well built and constructed of sturdy material. With the limitations previously stated, it is a satisfactory solution to a problem and the price was right. When working with a 30 year old lens, one can not be choosy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much Better than the Olympus Lens Hood This lens hood is sturdier than the original 62mm lens hood that comes with the Olympus 12-40 PRO zoom lens. It feels better and works better, so far than the Olympus hood, 3 of which have self destructed. Vello also makes a specific replacement for the original equipment lens hood that I have used and liked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good Hood! I needed a Hood for an old 28-200mm lens. This was the best B&H helped me find. It fits perfectly on the Lens and can hold the lens cap. It can also be installed in reverse if needed. It's a little difficult to snap it on for the 1st time but you'll get used to it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't work for me. The hood does not fit tight and falls of at the least bump. The hood does not reverse for storage on the lens. the hood does not permit the use of a front lens cap. I would not purchase this product again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not easy to use. This did not fit the Nikon 200 mm. I returned it. It also was hard to use. Stubborn on how to click it on.
