The CM40 from Samson delivers precision tuning and metronome capabilities in a compact, easy-to-use form. Designed with a large, full-color LCD display, as well as LED pitch/beat indicators, the tuner can be used in any environment, including a dark stage. It is powered via two AAA batteries, and to extend battery life, a power saving functions shuts off the tuner after five minutes of inactivity.
The chromatic tuner utilizes two modes, Tuner and Tone. In Tuner mode, the tuner automatically recognizes the played note, while Tone mode allows for manually selecting a reference pitch. Access to the tuner is either through the built-in microphone for adjusting acoustic instruments, or the 1/4" input connector for electronic instruments. The calibration range spans A 430 to 450 Hz, while a transposition setting allows for easily tuning down an instrument.
The metronome features a built-in speaker and 1/8" headphone jack with volume control, and tempos ranging from 30 to 250 BPM. Ten different time signatures are available in Beat mode, and the Rhythm function adds nine rhythm variations to each time signature to aid in practicing a wide range of styles.
