    Alesis DM8 Reviews

DM8 Pro Kit Professional Five-Piece Electronic Drumset is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Very pleased. I use this mostly as a midi to pro tools and use addictive drums but the factory settings aren't too shabby. Wouldn't recommend the computer presets for pro recording on a song but they are fun to practice and jam with. ARRIVED TWO DAYS AFTER PURCHASE! overall very happy so far. user friendly, set up wasn't as bad as others say. if you have a friend and are focused it should only take you an hour and a half. unbeatable price compared with similar models. again, great to get the cops and neighbors of your back if you are a serious musician. plug it into addictive drums and it will sound like any drum ever recorded!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DM8 Pro Kit I am mainly a pro gutarist but I play drums as well as other instruments. My band uses my DM8 pro kit at rehearsals....everything is run to the board at rehearsals to force getting used to wireless in-ear monitors like we use on stage live. It works great. This kit is also used for recording demos and song ideas. Much easier than micing up a real set of drums. Don't kid yourself, you MUST read the module manual and you must tweak every setting to make it usable. Out of the box it is okay but if you want it to respond like real drums, you have to tweak the triggers and curves and all the drums. I created one kit to use for recordings and rehearsals. This is not my first e-drum kit. You get what you put into it. Right out of the box, if you are an experienced drummer, you may be disappointed. Tweak it and you will be loving it. My drummer who has been playing for 40+ years absolutely loves it after tweaking. He wants to bring it to a live show and see how it goes. There are many mods you can make to the pads to make them feel better and respond electronically better.....just do a web search...... modding alesis drum pads...do the mods!!! The sounds are fine and the module is upgradable via USB. Much better than my previous DM5 and DMPro modules. The real hi-hat pedal still isn't as good as it should be but it is light years better than the old Alesis hi-hat pedal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch For a long time I've needed an electronic drum kit for my studio that drummers would actually not mind playing, but the cost was just too great. I'm not primarily a drummer but do know that real drummers love the feel of their acoustic kits so rubber pads were out. This kit plays and sounds great. With the triple zone ride and dual zone snare there are plenty of sounds at your disposal. With the dual voice layers in the brain you can get just about any drum sound you need. Add to that the eq and effects and the rest is up to your imagination. The rack is solid and easy to set up. Spend a little time with the trigger set up, build a kit or two and you're ready to go. Great kit for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good electronic drum set The Alesis DM8 is a good electronic drum set for the price. I have played roland and yamaha electric sets, and Alesis has a lot of great features and sounds at a fraction of the cost. I picked this kit up for $$ on sale online at B&H and also submitted for a $100 rebate!I purchased this right after Christmas and received it on 1/7. The packaging was impressive and the setup was fairly simple. I made several adjustments to the triggers to make the kit sound right. There is a bit of crosstalk with the snare head and rim, and the ride cymbal mute functionality isn't perfect. Other than that, I love this set! The sounds are terrific and I'm excited to customize drum sets and learn more about the DM8 module's capabilities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Set! This set is totally worth the money! It has around 100 preset drum kits, and you can make a bunch of your own custom kits. The drum module is pretty advanced as far as options go, you can tweak everything quite a bit. I love the look, it is very sleek and professional! The kit feels amazing to play! Heres a tip though, check out the mesh head modification for the drum heads...I hear it makes the set 10 times better to play! I going to give the modification a try soon! All together, you wont be disappointed with this electric drum kit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing kit!!! I've been a profesional drummer for 12 years. Before going electronic on drums I was VERY hesitant because my previous experiences on electronic drums were more than 10 years ago when technology was not as good as today's. I did the mesh upgrade on this drum set and they change drastically in al manners. Feel is 99% natural and acustic noise is VERY low with the new mesh heads. You don't need to spend 1500 bucks or more for a Roland if you have Alesis. REALLY, REALLY RECOMMENDED PRODUCT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted. I use this kit for personal recording at home. I am maily a bass player, but I found that in these times you have to be able to do it all! The DM8 is relatively simple to use right out of the box, it will take some time getting used when you are actually using it to record with your DAW. The 'drummer' program that comes with it is absolutely useless! So be prepared to already own or purchase one. Overall I am satisfied, it does exactly what I expected it to do and nothing else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! Very Happy! I have been a loyal Ludwig acoustic drummer for many years and still own my fourth kit. I resisted electronic drums for a long time because I'm an old rock n' roll traditionalist. However I needed a kit on which I could practice at night without disturbing the family and that I could play in smaller venues by controlling the dynamics. After researching all of the competitive sets in this price range, I purchased the Alesis DM8 Pro kit from B&H. They have exceeded my expectations. True that the action of the RealHeads are not exactly like acoustic drums, I never-the-less am exceptionally pleased with them and understand that they play somewhat diffrently because they are diferent. In a very good way. B&H also exceeded my expectations as well. I ordered the kit over the July 4th holiday and received them in two(2) days! I've purchased a lot of musical related equipment over the years from a number of online and land based suppliers, but I must say that B&H is the best and fastest supplier of them all, and there prices are extremely competitive. If you are in the market for an electronic drum kit that is well-priced and has fantistic sound qualitiy, this is the one. Plus they look very cool too with their black RealHeads abd chrome rims. love 'em. Johnny D, Drummer for the HearAfters
