Key Features
  • 3.0 Solid Neutral Density Filter
  • 1,000x Filter Factor, 10-Stop
  • Darkens Entire Image
  • Allows Reduced Shutter Speed
The Heliopan 82mm Solid Neutral Density 3.0 Filter is an ND filter with a 1,000x filter factor that provides a 10-stop exposure reduction. Its 3.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes four layers of anti-reflection coating. Together, these eight coatings offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

This Heliopan neutral density filter is constructed from SCHOTT glass for increased optical clarity as well as color fidelity and features a brass filter ring for enhanced durability and jamming prevention.

Not horrible but could be better

Based on the other comments, I guess it's possible that I just have a bad version of this filter. My results include a rather strong color cast and very strong vignetting. I also find that I need to increase my exposure by about 11.5 stops to get the same exposure as with no filter. In general, the results are usable, but require some serious work in post to remove color casting and vignetting. If the shot allows, I tend to just take multiple exposures so that I have data to pull back the corners with. I've attached a sample image with a cloudy white balance setting (it was a cloudy day) which shows the color cast and vignetting I get with this filter. I own a similar product that I recently bought and I find it a far superior optically and a better value.

Amazing results!

Amazing results from this 10 stop ND filter! Solid threading. No color cast.

Need more time with it

Only giving 4 stars because I haven't had the chance to use it much. I need some time to get it all figured out but quality wise it is great. Clear, fits really well and really shuts out the light. No color shift from the limited use I've had with it. Well worth the money and should be fun on the 24-70 II and 16-35

Worth the cost.

No color shift or blurry images; just really long exposures, Focus first before putting it on or use live view. Otherwise it is like trying to look through a welder's helment! I gave it 4 stars for the high cost. From a performance point of view it is a 5.

I wanted to buy a B+W 82mm 3.0 ND filter, but I found that they dose not have one. So I go for Heliopan and I found this filter is really good!!! The image is sharp and works really well in the sunlights.

FUN!

Really slows down time. Great blur shots even in full sunlight. Fun to experiment with.

I have wanted a 10 stop ND filter for almost one year now. I was strongly considering the LEE version, but is constantly sold out, plus after purchasing the necessary adaptor kit, would actually be more expensive at this time. This screw in type is faster and easier to attach, and with step down rings I am able to use it on all my lenses! I notice no degrade in image sharpness, but maybe if you pixel peep, you can notice something, I didn't. I also, did not see anymore Vignetting on my 16-35mm f/2.8 @ 16mm and 2.8, than I usually Do. You do need a steady tripod and some kind of remote with this filter......or you will have shake in your images!
