B+W 66-1066122 overview

  • 1Description

The B+W 62mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention. To further reduce the possibility of vignetting when this filter is in use, the filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size. This may prevent the use of some lens manufacturer bayonet hoods.

This UV Haze filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

    62mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 61.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from B+W 62mm XS-Pro UV MRC-Nano 010M Filter I've been buying B+W filters for years. I began with the standard 'coated' filters then graduated to the MRC (Multi-Resistant Coating) and then to the MRC Nano filters. The MRC coated filters are a hard, multicoated filter, but I found that when there was a fingerprint or smudge, it would sort of swirl or just move the smudge around. It would require more work (and often times lens cleaning fluid) to get it totally clean. I believe that the Nano Coating improves upon the regular MRC coating as I find them to be much easier to clean. I try to buy the MRC Nano filters whenever they are available in a given size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch Filter Not much to say here. B+W filters are excellent and this one is no exception. I like the Nano coatings as they really do seem to be easier to clean if you get a stray fingerprint or whatnot on the filter. Seems most photographers are either filter users or they are not. I like using filters as I shoot outdoors in often dusty, humid conditions and I feel better about wiping off my filter instead of the front of my lens. I keep filters on all my lenses except for the couple that do not accept filters and B+W are my favorites. Never been disappointed yet!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for protection Lets just be clear on this, I don't normally use filters. However I decided to get one for my trip to the Grand Canyon. While the location was most dry dirt and dust, I was going to visit some of the other sandy and windier locations. The filter did a fine job protecting my front element from the flying sands. I did notice some distracting flaring when shooting; granted directly at the rising sun. Just an FYI

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT RESULT FIRST TIME OUT I specifically wanted to try this filter with snow scenes in northern Vermont. Often direct light on snow produces a blue cast. I was not sure it would be effective with snow scenes, but photos taken over the weekend showed that it is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pricey but worth it Bought this to protect the large front element of the Zeiss lens on my RX10 Sony. A lot of money for a piece of clear glass, but worth it for the protection. I intend to do a lot of traveling with this camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fit SONY FDR-AX100 - PXW-X70 When attached (both the SONY FDR-AX100 & PXW-X70), this filter will allow the Lens Cap and Lens Hood to return to their home...that's a real good thing. Now when working on beach with sand and occasional wind, we can relax knowing they're protecting the camera's glass. Also they wipe nicely with the coating they use. Excellent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Filter I am a beginner Photographer and so in the beginning I bought Tiffen filters. Bad choice. I recently purchased this filter type for both my Nikkor 50mm and 105mm and was very pleased with it. Don't cut corners with cheaper filters, your photos will pay for it via poor quality imagery.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect fit I use filters like this when I am on location and there is a chance of dust, debris or anything else coming into contact with the front element of the lens. Easier to replace a filter than a lens. Used on my 35-70 2.8 nikon. Great construction, easy to install and take off. Only wish it had threads on the other side to accept my screw on lens hood. As of now I have to choose. Filter or hood, other than that, great product.
