The B+W 82mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention. To further reduce the possibility of vignetting when this filter is in use, the filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size. This may prevent the use of some lens manufacturer bayonet hoods.

This UV Haze filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Slim Filter for Ultrawide Zoom This is an excellent slim filter to be used with a ultrawide zoon lens. Specifically, I bought this UV multi coated filter for my Canon EF 16-35mm 2.8L II Lens. To avoid any additional vignetting caused by a filter, I did my research to find the slimiest B+W filter and it came down to 2 choices. Either the B+W Slim version or the XS-Pro version. The difference between the two is that the Slim version is about 3mm thick and you cannot use your regular Canon lens cap on it; the filter provides you a custom push on cap which I've heard easily slips off by accident once in a while. The XS-Pro version is about 3.4mm thick and you can use your original Canon lens cap (big bonus). So I chose the XS-Pro due the cap reason. For the about 3 weeks I've used it so far, it has worked we'll with no noticible addition of vignetting and it is much slimmer than regular B+W F-Pro versions of filters (5mm thick). I would highly recommend this filter if you've got a ultra-wide angle zoom of some sort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptionally clear and worth it! B+W has once again given its consumers another great product that can be relied upon. This UV filter is currently on my Canon 24-70mm F2.8 II and, out of the last 6 events photographed since purchase, it continues to show why B+W is the only filter I will have in my bag. This filter is exceptionally clear and shows absolutely NO signs of distortion when the lens is opened up to 24mm. B+W is quality glass!! It works well with the lens hood and is quite easy to clean compared to most filters. However, the most important point of all, I have seen no loss in picture quality when it comes to clarity and focus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Filter Works perfectly with new Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM and does NOT intefere with the lens hood. Very high quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality Filter Bottom Line: If you need a top quality filter and you aren't putting this on an extra wide-angle lens, get it. You won't be disappointed. I use B+W filters on my lenses and the fact that the XS-Pro version has a hydrophobic coating may make it easier to clean than other B+W filters. However, I was planning to use this 82 mm filter to protect (and weather seal) my Canon 16-35 mm f/2.8 lens and I found that the XS-Pro exhibits slightly more vignetting at 16 mm than B+W's slim version when used with a full-frame body. For this reason I opted for the slim version in the end. Pros: *Works with most normal lens caps (Slim version doesn't have front threads so comes with a special cap) *Should be easier to keep clean than F-Pro or Slim versions without the hydrophobic coating Cons: More vignetting on some extra wide angle lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive, but good stuff B+W is to be commended. While other manufacturers have resorted to cheesy marketing tricks to misuse their brand (and dump on their customers in theprocess), B+W remains straight and true. Their filters are the best because they use the best materials, and innovate with things like this new MRC-nano coating. They also try to protect their customers with product packaging that includes holographic labels, and scan codes that actually confirm B+W as the manufacturer. If only everything were this well made.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from quality product I also have Heliopan UV that cost twice as much. Heliopan has more light transmission and no color at all, harder to clean, doesn't stay as clean. B&W: slightly less light transmission, slight reddish color of glass(but not in photos), resists everything very easily, extremely easy to clean. I also have a B&W 105mm polarizer with similar coating. This coating is tough. I have banged that $400 polarizer against trees, rocks, etc. No damage, no scratches. Tough coating. If you are using a polarizer most of the time, go with cheaper. It will last longer, too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from expensive as faq but its the clearest glass u can basically although its expensive, the glass is super clear and minimizes reflection or degradiation of image quaility. although expensive, rather have this break then my 24-70mm LENS LOL

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality Fliter This is a good quality filter, excellent optically with good mechanical build that performs as advertised. I suggest to anyone investing in a good lens to thread on a clear or UV Haze filter and just leave it there. I'm very careful with my equipment but stuff happens; if nothing else a removable flat glass is easier to clean than a coated objective element and if your lens is always protected it should never need more than a light dusting.
