B+W 66-1066109 overview

  • 1Description

The B+W 67mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter is a simple, clear filter with a 1x filter factor and is designed to provide general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect overall image quality while helping to reduce dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from damaging your lens. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention. To further reduce the possibility of vignetting while using this filter, the filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size. This may prevent the use of some lens manufacturer bayonet hoods.

    67mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap insurance for an expensive lens While some may not feel that clear filters are worthwhile nowadays, I still feel more comfortable having one to protect my $1000 lens. Of course, I do not want the filter to spoil the image quality either, so I bought the B&W Clear filter. It is multi-coated so should prevent most flare, has stronger than usual glass while being thin enough to prevent issues with vignetting. It is not really all that cheap, but it is much cheaper than getting a scratch on my lens repaired would be. Plus, if the lens gets splashed with mud, I can always remove the filter rather than trying to clean it in the wilds. Better than missing the shot ! It also allows me to use my lens without a hood which makes it much less intimidating to the people I want to photograph.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quallity Some purist refuse to use protective filters on their lenses in fear of degrading the optical quality. If I worked in a studio, maybe I would feel the same way, but I use my gear in the real world and in all sorts of harsh shooting conditions, so I am a firm believer of using protective filters. I also don't want to compromise the optical quality, and the B+W filters are as good as they get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great protective filter This filter is a replacement for one that I damaged when I dropped my EOS 5D Mark IV with a 70-300mm L lens on the hard paving in Venice during a shoot. Its predecessor saved my lens, thus saving me about $1400 (it's my favorite lens). I know there is some controversy about whether or not to use a protective filter. I would not leave home without one. And the fact that this has a brass ring meant that the filter was almost undamaged and the lens completely undamaged. The new one is in place and I'm back to battery. I do recommend getting a high quality, low profile, brass ring, optical glass filter such as this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value for Money! I did not know much about B+W filters (such a shame!). But, obviously, through bhphotovideo reviews I got to know that B+W are good at what they do! I am happy that I bought this product. Works great as advertised. Plus, it has some kind of premium look and feel! the filter fits perfectly (as it should). Mainly, I use it to protect my lens. If I have B+W clear filters on, I don't have to worry about that expensive lens behind it. It does not affect the picture quality (per my knowledge). SO, is is value for money. Oh, btw, thanks B&H for quick and professional service as always.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Extra protection to my lens I was not a big fan of adding another piece of glass in front of my lenses. But I have to agree that after some bad stories from friends incurring to major fixes on their lenses I was a little scared. I made my research and found that this filter was the best option. It is good glass still and it is Nano Coated. So now I feel more confident during the weddings I photograph. The only cons I found is the flare sometimes I catch and that doesn't happen if I'm nt using the filter. It is not related to the brand, it is related to the fact that is an extra layer of glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a step forward Like many others, for years I've used UV filters to protect my lenses - and of course control for UV probs. With digital, the need for a UV filter is not such an issue, because the cams themselves deal with UV. With the move to RAW format, I have concentrated on capturing actual light, as exactly as possible. So I was delighted to get this filter, which doesn't interfere with the incoming light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protection without notice. I use this clear filter for my Canon 10-18mm and it works perfectly. No vignetting caused by the filter AND the lens cap fits on top of the filter. It is also possible to stack filters on top of this one. I'm very happy with this filter. A bit pricey, but a lot cheaper than replacing/fixing a lens. Slim design is great for wide/extra wide angle lenses.
