The B+W 82mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter is a simple, clear filter with a 1x filter factor and is designed to provide general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect overall image quality while helping to reduce dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from damaging your lens. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention. To further reduce the possibility of vignetting while using this filter, the filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size. This may prevent the use of some lens manufacturer bayonet hoods.

General protection filter reduces dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching lens elements.
Does not require adjustments to exposure while in use.
Multicoated to prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission.
Nano coating provides an improved beading effect with water for more efficient cleaning.
Creates no additional coloration or contrast.

    82mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Filter for Digital If you only want to protect your lens, this one is ideal for digital use. I used to use the UV version, but found that in rare cases there would be a little flair from the uv-cut coatings. Since most digital sensors are already filtered for UV, a UV coating is not needed on the filter. Also the nano coating is just amazing, dust just falls off and fingerprints (they do happen) wipe off effortlessly. My images are tack sharp corner to corner with this filter in place, so there is no visible loss if image quality (which happens with cheaper filters). This is a first class professional filter !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfectly transparent! This filter is used to protect one of my new lenses. I can't see a difference in picture IQ either with or without the filter and I guess that's the point. I like the use of Schott glass and coatings though I'm not sure of exactly why they may be any better than other manufacturers offerings. I also like the thin ring and brass construction and have noticed that the filter is fairly easy to clean and to take on and off of the lens. Again, as it is for protection I haven't yet (and hope not) tried it out. It may be, as some say, silly to use these expensive filters as protection for your lens. I view them as a type of insurance. An insurance I hope never to use it but I feel better for having it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First one was defective. The first one I received from B&H had a distortion along the outer edge of the filter, as if there was too much pressure on the glass at that one spot, thus I only gave it 4 stars. This is the only time I have experienced the issue with B+W filters. The second one I received was the normal B+W excellence I always expect. One of the best ways I have found to look for such distortions, or uneven pressure distributions is by placing the filter on a black surface and looking at a lighted, square type lattice in the reflection of the filter on both sides. I purchased the filter for use with the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II, where it will cause some very minor vignetting when the lens is used at its extreme configurations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stoking the protective filter fire! Yes, we've all heard it before - protective filters are not necessary and they degrade PQ. While I've never seen evidence of poor photo quality while using a good protective filter, the debate will never end as to their necessity. I'd love to rely completely on my lens hood(s) for front element protection but I can't. I'm sometimes in dusty, sandy, salt water conditions, in the woods with invasive twigs and branches - and I don't know from day to day where I might be. So I use a filter on everything but my telephoto and macro lenses. And I only buy B+W MRC filters. Expensive, yes. Worth it? Subjective. There is no mistaking the quality of glass or craftsmanship from B+W, but what impresses me most is ease of cleaning. By far the easiest, most smudge-free result I've experienced. There are other great filters and manufacturers, B+W has done well by me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Changing all my Filters to B + W!! I bought the B + W 82mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter to go onto my newly purchased Canon 16-35mm 2.8L lens. This filter is perfectly crystal clear!! I don't even notice it is on the lens. There is no vignetting at 16mm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality, as expected I'm done with UV filters. Clear filters only for my L lenses, and B+W filters are always top-notch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I does what is says. Not much to review other than it seems to have a negligible impact on image quality. I don't really notice a difference. Build quality is excellent. Other than that. The packaging indicates it is designed for digital cameras. One star off just for the high price. 10% cheaper would be fair, 15% percent cheaper would give it 5 stars. I can't compare to other lower price alternatives (since I don't own them) so I cant comment on if this is a good value for the money.
