Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK for permanent use This reminds me of a kids erector set. Too many joints that don't stay locked in place. I could only recommend this if it is used for something in a studio and not to be broken down for travel. I could not get it to stay tight enough so once I figured out the position I wanted it I used locking nuts (instead of the cheap wing nuts) and gaffers tape to hold it in place. I also use metal binder clips to hold the gels in place. The clips that come with it are junk and chew up your expensive filters. Mine stays attached permanently mounted to my light stand so no big deal but there has to be a better alternative out there. You get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Was looking for an inexpensive way to utilize some LED worklights from the Depot. This far surpasses expectations. There are reviews stating that the construction or build quality is wonky...and all we have to say is, it is if you think it is. It works for our purposes and we are thankful to the manufacturer for making creating and making available at a reasonable price point and to B&H for their excellent customer service and reliability. Also, love the instructional video with the B&H rep explaining how to create your own Cucaloris. It was fantastic and very informative as we did not previous think of doing, but will sure now try it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product This is a great product for using gels and diffusion. It allows you to easily position your gel or diffusion with out worrying about the material being damaged by hot tungsten lights. For instance, I've had many instance where I've put a gel, using c-47s, on the barn doors of hot tungsten lights, and have had damaged gels after the shot. This product prevents that. The only problem is that it only works for certain shot scales. The frame isn't extremely large so if you try and open the barn doors of a light so it spills past the width of the frame, it'll cause a shadow in the frame. If the frame were bigger I would be more satisfied with the product. Overall this is a nifty product that'll help you paint pictures the way you want to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Odd, but it works The holder has a ton of hinges on it, I'm assuming so that you can arrange it into weird positions, but setting it up requires the tightening of about four hinges. If you need to rearrange the position you often have to retighten at least two of the hinges. It's not cheaply made, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Clunky Solution Using this to cool some halogen bulbs I use for video. This product works really well actually, however, it's just a bit on the clunky side for me. It's got these knobs and small arm extensions that allow you to fold it and twist it to your liking, which is kool, but I just think the design could've been a bit better. I am sure there are other solutions in the market that have better design and work just as well. I bought 3 of these bad boys and I;m keeping them because I got used to them - but I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is what it is... Works perfectly fine with the Manfrotto Gels

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very user friendly I bought a pair. The only problem I found in both is that the principle clamp broke on the first service and second and now I have to fix by myself because I live in Europe. For the rest its a perfect tool. Please resolve this problem!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for cucaloris I'm using this with the small LED lights from Fiilex. I attach the base to the light stand and extend the frame away from the light and attach either a cookie (cucaloris) or a gel to modify the light and shadow pattern on the background. This works, but it is a bit of a contraption requiring three hands...kinda like putting some of the fold-out softboxes together! But it works when you get used to positioning and tightening the numerous joints. I have found the corner alligator clips somewhat harsh on the gels, however. I use c47's or other cheap grip clamps instead. They are less likely to tear up the gel corners. It folds up nicely to transport for interviews, etc. Not sure how durable it will be--esecially the cam-lock attachment to the light stand.
