Samsung's 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 ED OIS Lens (For NX Cameras) might be the one lens to have, if you only have one lens. The incredible 11x wide-angle 27.7-308mm (equivalent in 35mm format) lens can handle just about any photographic subject, from wide, wide landscapes to cityscapes to portraits to group photos to sports to wildlife. And with the built-in lens-shift optical image stabilizer, you'll get crisp, sharp photos and video even using the long telephoto end of the zoom range.

Speaking of video, the 18-200 is optimized for shooting video by using a Voice Coil Motor (VCM) that eliminates noisy autofocus--it also has fast zoom tracking, automatically keeping your subject in focus when zooming in or out. Has this product really been discontinued by the manufacturer (Samsung) or is it temporarily out of stock? I see it is available on other website but I want to buy a brand new from B&H only so wanted to know about the availability. I couldn't find any official announcement about the discontinuity of this product from Samsung. Thanks in advance.

The 18-200mm OIS Lens is the only Lens I use with my Samsung nx300 camera, I use it for still photographs as well as video. It is a great all round lens.

Will this lens fit the NX 500 - and can one purchase the NX500 body only?

The Samsung 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OIS lens is compatible with the NX500, yes. At this time, the only pre-order option for the NX500 is the kit with the 16-50mm lens. I dont know if there will be a body only option in the future from Samsung.
