Lensbaby LBCP35C overview

  • 1Description

The Lensbaby Composer Pro with Sweet 35 Optic for Canon EF is part of the Lensbaby series of lenses and offers the same spectacular special-effect results. However, the refined and enhanced Composer Pro gives you ultra-smooth focus and tilt control and will retain its position after being bent, which makes it easy to use even with one hand. Simply tilt the lens to a desired angle and then focus with a traditional barrel focusing ring.

The Sweet 35 Optic is a 35mm optic with a 12-blade diaphragm and adjustable aperture (f/2.5-f/22) that gives you unprecedented precision control over your selective focus photos--just rotate the dial on the front of the optic to quickly change the size of your in-focus "sweet spot". This is the widest focal length of any Lensbaby selective focus optics--the Sweet 35 also has close-focus capabilities. The lens can be bent off-center in any direction for different results.

The Composer Pro is compatible with the Optic Swap System--a line of different "optics" that can be interchanged with the Muse and Composer versions. This provides artists with an almost unlimited variety of looks and styles to capture their unique visions.

No electronic communication is possible between the camera and the lens. All operation is strictly manual. Automatic light metering is possible by shooting in aperture priority mode for almost all digital and film SLR camera bodies.
12-blade diaphragm adjustable aperture.
High-quality optic with 4 multi-coated elements in 3 groups.
The Composer Pro features a unique manual focus design which requires more rotation to move the optic as you approach infinity. This makes it easier to focus on objects at intermediate and distant depths than regular manual focus lenses.

    Lensbaby LBCP35C reviews

Composer Pro with Sweet 35 Optic for Canon EF is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from fun accessory lens with dynamic focus I use this for dramatic focus effects out of the camera. This is a novelty lens, something to buy when you essentially have most of the lenses you want, or don't mind spending a few bucks to get a limited-purpose tool. It permits you to play with a dynamic sweet spot, thanks to the ability of the user to change the axis of the lens with respect to the film/sensor plane. It takes some getting used to in order to get satisfactor results. Do not expect that the dynamic axis is similar to tilt shift technology. It is not. No data are passed between lens and camera; all functions must be manual and aperture information will not be saved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lensbaby Composer Pro with Sweet 35 Solid construction. Works as one would expect it. Have to admit it will take some time to get use to it, but from what I see so far, it will produce some great and unique shots. It is a specialty lens for specific purpose, exactly why I made the purchase and I expect to have many interesting photos over the holidays as we travel the West Coast from California to Washington.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A baby you must have it Excellent lens for everyday photography, from close up portrait to landscape. With special effect it's a great choices for event photographer to add some nice image to the client album. Also with 2.5 aperture, you can use it for dslr video too.Strongly recomended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens for Surreal Photography This lens is fantastic for surreal photography or vidography, the effect is subtle, and controllable, which allows for great ease of use, and functionality. I would completely recommend the sweet 35 optic, as opposed to the double glass optic. Regardless of the price difference what photographer in their right mind would want to take apart their lens, every time they want to adjust the aperture? Using this lens already adds another step (a enjoyable and artistic one) to the process, so it being simple and easy to use is a must; Lensbaby achieved that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun, Fun, Fun This is my first Lensbaby. At first I didn't know that you could get the Composer Pro w/ the sweet 35 together. I'm having fun with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Artsy lens I was a bit ambiguous about this 'artsy' lens to start with, but after putting a couple hundred flashes of light through it, it kind of grows on you. Getting the hang of 'tweaking' the lens takes a bit practice, and in this case Less is More'. It seems to me that 'learning the tool' is half the fun. Would I recommend the Lensbaby.absolutely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far a lot of fun This lens is so small and compact that I carry my camera around more. Very easy to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The most fantastic lens I've owned! The pop Ad attract my eyeballs and complete the whole deal in less 1 minute. About 2 weeks waiting and continues track where it is, it appears on my desk suddenly. It is my first experience to use such a manual lens, neither to mention its shift function( without tilt). In general, I enjoy the pleasure come from the famous lens at such reasonable price. But my 6d is not powerful as sony a7riii, the focus system won't provide any difference from focused or not. This is the only one thing could be improved I believe.
