The Manfrotto MH055M8-Q5 Photo-Movie Tripod Head offers optimal function for still photo shooting as well as videography. Primarily designed for DSLR cameras with movie shooting ability, the tripod head features a Photo-Video selector for quickly switching between the two modes.
In Photo mode, the MH055M8-Q5 head offers free movement in all directions just like a typical ball head. Equipped with fluid cartridges and an adjustable counterbalance control, the tripod head provides precise, smooth, and controlled movement.
In Video mode, the head restricts all-direction movement to precise pan-and-tilt operation, which works well with videography. The MH055M8-Q5 head comes with a pan bar and offers fluid movement as well as friction control. The pan bar is reversible for right- or left-handed users and can be quickly detached. An included rest clip allows the pan bar to be attached to a tripod leg after being removed. A Q5 quick release plate is included.
- For Photo & Video Shooting
- Ideal for DSLR Cameras

Manfrotto MH055M8-Q5 Reviews
Manfrotto MH055M8-Q5 Photo-Movie Tripod Head with Q5 QR Plat
An effortless, smooth, incredible tripod head. It makes picture-taking a dream, especially for panning birds in flight.
Very smooth
Just received it and it seems very smooth
Broken knobs
The knobs break off very easily.
Great head but has weak points.
Im mostly a photographer and dont often do video, so keep that in mind. Ive had this head for about 4 years now and have started avoiding using it. Pros: -Smooth in all directions -Good adjustability on all axis -Enough bubble levels I know thats just 2, but theyre really important. Ive had a number of issues with it, however. -The pan bar doesnt stay on. -The CBS knob is brittle plastic and broke off very quickly. Never found out what it did. -Nothing retains the 1/4 screw. It slides to the hole at the end and disappears, never to be seen again (until you pay $30 for a Manfrotto replacement) -The quick release plate has a weird release and can be hard to get off in a hurry -Rubber pads on the plate come off, and its hard to keep the camera tight All in all, its a very flexible head but it just isnt high enough quality to justify the price. I no longer use it for photography, except at night, where its weight is an advantage.
Not really great for either purpose
I am going to try and sell this to get a fluid head instead of one thing that does video and photo. It's not fluid for video, and clunky at best for stills.
Dual Threat
These days a lot of photographers are also doing video and having the flexibility within your gear to do both is extremely important. Some video clients are also asking for vertical shooting for social media platforms. Either way this head could do it, and it's extremely sturdy.
Best tripod head ever
This is the only tripod head I use. I love the versatility and durability of it. Great all around head.
Great Tripod Head
I just started my Youtube channel and am creating weekly videos. This has been a great, solid tripod head for my work. After being a full time, professional photographer for more than eight years, I have realized that Manfrotto makes the highest quality, durable gear that I can trust.
